Well, I never competitavely boxed. I have however competed in wrestling and MMA. It just so happens Boxing is my favorite sport as a spectator. When you box, or wrestle... hell, fighting in any style... you are NEVER comfortable unless you are against a lesser opponent. But even then... THAT'S where you get caught slipping (Tyson/Douglas comes to mind). Basically, we are ALL afraid. You will NEVER get over that if you are good and facing good competition. As far as comfort goes, if you want comfort, sit in a chair. If you find comfort fighting, tell me how you are comfortable doing that. You have to come in, KNOWING you are going to get hurt, possibly badly. But you will hurt them too, possibly badly. You have to check your compassion at the door. I hug a guy before and after a bout, but inbetween those hugs, I am going to KILL YOU!!! I want everyone else watching to see me make a wimp out of you to get inside their heads too. But it is not personal. I am nice again when it's over. If you find a way to be comfortable with that, you let me know... I do not think it is possible to do.
