its the same but with more options
would not advise in installing VISTA if you have win xp
if you do not have 1GB ram 2GB processor duel core and 15GB free hard drive space this is the min requirement on an up grade
but most of the time vista still runs slower than xp
unless you buy a new PC made to run it.
me my self I'm waiting until they get more things compatible with it

You might ask, was Windows 95 better than DOS?
Was Windows 2000 better than Windows NT 4.0? Is Windows XP better than Windows 98?

Each system embodied the tech advances of its time, better coding, more capability and the real meat and potatoes being a Stronger and larger Instruction set!

VISTA is the NEW PC Operating System. It is the replacement to Windows XP for all the same reasons that no one buys Windows 95 and says it runs fine why should I change!

New Computers will come with VISTA, no choice!

Some where down the road MS will stop supporting XP!

Should you buy VISTA NOW because it is on the market? NO!

If you buy/build a new system buy VISTA.

If VISTA has a capability that is important to you and you want it, buy VISTA!

If some one is selling legal copies for less than 50% with valid registration numbers, buy it.

Other wise, wait until you either upgrade your Graphic Card or the system in general, then buy it.

If you like XP but want to learn VISTA buy a small hard drive and load VISTA on to it.

That way you will have a dual boot system, nothing happens to your XP system, and you can do what ever with VISTA!

Yes. The people that claim to dislike it are the same people that complain every time a new operating system comes out. It's history repeating itself. They complained when Windows 95 was released then 98 then 2000 then Me, then XP and now they hate Vista. Blah blah blah........ - Once they get used to it they'll learn to like it. For the ones that don't there is always Linux or Mac.

Edit: Another thing people ALWAYS say is that there are supposedly a bunch of bugs to be worked out - and they ALWAYS say this upon the release of a new operating system. I've been using Vista for months, first the beta versions and now the released version and I can tell you that it's fine. People also ALWAYS say that we should wait 'till the release of a service pack; then when one does get released they complain about that too, citing that it will wreck your computer or whatever.... (I've heard it all). I promise you that most computer problems are not due to Windows, but rather due to cheap hardware or - most often due to the person using it and his or her lack of knowledge of the operating system.

Edit:
As I said................ blah blah blah........................
and as predicted, I'll keep getting "thumbs down" responses. The fact still remains............. - I've been using Vista for months and never had a problem! Minor glitches only..... - which any one who knows about computers can resolve!!!!
Maybe I'm somewhat different from the average computer user -so I apologize; I build my own systems.

Windows Vista, I heard, is supposed to be similar to Mac OS. You also need atleast 1GB of RAM for it to perform smoothly. And I don't think that you'd be able to just download it anywhere at this time. You'd have to buy it at Best Buy or some place. Try going to microsoft.com, you'll get good info off of there.

It is supposed to be the best Windows OS right now, but just as with any new OS, there are always bugs that need to be worked out. You can buy the software from any microsoft retailer.

It is supposed to be, better security, but personally I wait awhile till they get the remaining bugs out, some programs do not work I am told with vista, heck look at xp all the patches that still come out, they do not have all the bugs out of that yet.

It's supposed to be. I have Vista and I do not like it. I guess because it is new and it is alot harder to use than XP....I wish that I had XP still instead of windows. And you have to buy it....i think it costs a few hundred bucks or pretty close to....mine came with my new computer.

It still has a ton of bugs yet to be worked out. but whenever something acts up it'll ask you if you wish to report and possibly resolve the issue next time you go online.
and like xp it has a cool menu appearence.

you can't download it, you need a 20 gig hdd or larger with at least 15 gigs of free space. and you can't even install it without a dvd-rom. it'll be great by the next service pack.

!!!! IF you like Gaming and stuff DO NOT GET VISTA yet! Something is wrong with the graphics card if you buy a computer with it pre-installed and you can't play anything 3D, even if its offline from a disc!

DO NOT upgrade yet! Because there is something wrong that messes with your audio card on the computer...or so I've heard...

I got mine pre-installed when I bought my laptop, and I can't play games :( Other than that, I <3 Vista! :D

The differences are only visual. Vista does have better visuals. But its not worth it unless you are buying a new computer.
