Well, they don't overlook sex before marraige. In the eyes of god it is wrong. But, what they need to remember as well is that they are not allowed to judge...only god is. That's his job and no one elses. Everyone must walk their own path and the path they choose will determine where they end up in the afterlife. God tells us to be forgiving and love everyone. He is the one who should be judging on peoples choices.

Christians are not perfect, they are simply forgiven. While it is a sin to engage in premarital sex, which the Bible does teach, the emotions of people can, and often do, take control when they should be kept under control. This is not an excuse, just a statement of what often does happen. So far as "gay" sex goes, yes, it is condemned in the Bible. Gary gave a very good account of what the Bible has to say about it. In the books of the law, which is most of the first 5 books of the Old Testament, man with man sex, as well as woman with woman sex is mentioned, and condemned. The punishment then, was to be stoned to death.
I believe that perhaps what you do not get is that premarital sex is just as wrong as gay sex. Both are sins, but can still be forgiven. Passion does over take people. People can be led astray to do things that God doesn't like. He does, however, forgive when sought for that forgiveness with the confession that what was done is in fact, sin. The moral standards that the Bible sets forth are for the betterment and protection of man. It is little different than a parent telling a child not to stick a butter knife into a wall outlet, or God instructing man to stay away from certain activities. It is for our good, nothing more. If you choose to disobey, then accept the consequences.

The Bible does say that homo sexuality is a sin. BUT - the Bible also, says that Christians are obligated to demonstrate out-going concern for others, including homo sexuals. The Apostle Paul, warns Christians about "Judging" people OUTSIDE the church (non - Christians) see: 1st Corinthians, Chapter 5, verses 12 & 13. Judgement of the people within the world is God's place. Remember; Christians are human beings too and yes, some are not "virgins" - they do make mistakes and sin too, like you and I do !!! "Being gay" isn't the only sin; there is also, lieing, stealing, murder, sex out of marriage, covetness, and so forth. It seems that sins which consist of sex, tend to be magnified as the worse sins. Sin is sin to God. The church I belong to welcomes anyone (yes, even "gays") - they are human too !!!

Christians believe the the bible is the inspired word of God. The bible points out that homosexuality is an abomination to God. That's a very strong word. The bible also says fornication is wrong. If a person says they believe one but not the other, they are not being consistent with adhering to God's word.

About 1/2 of what you state here is true. Christians say that homosexuality is wrong because it is according to the Bible. Next, you have never heard a practicing Christian say that sex before marriage is right, we state that's just as wrong as homosexuality. So I wonder where you heard differently.

What you described in your question is Christian hypocrisy. As many have already answered, all sex outside of marriage is against the Bible and is sin. Those Christians (including myself) who are waiting for marriage are following God's instruction. Homosexuality is a sin because it is not sex between a married man and woman. Sex between unmarried men and women is sin.

Also according to the bible you shouldn't wear garments of two different fabrics or eat shrimp or rabbit...
But wait, that's Leviticus and it doesn't apply anymore, right?
But wait some more, isn't Leviticus the same book that condemns homosexuality?
It's just like the horoscope, the bible will say whatever they want it to say. And you know how all gay haters are repressed homosexuals.
Hope this helps!

This belief reflects an interesting irony, namely, the tendency of many Christian leaders to place an emphasis on the condemnation of specific actions believed within a given time and society to be wrong, when Christ himself spoke very clearly against judging and condemning the actions of others, suggesting instead that his followers emphasize mercy and acceptance. This was a major break away from the dominant religious thinking of his time, in which specific matters of religious law were treated with unswerving importance; Christ encouraged his followers to place more importance on the simpler virtues of love and tolerance than on observation of rigid religious principles. Sadly, this is a central theme of his teaching that has been slow in gaining recognition among many mainstream Christians.
But back to the topic of homosexuality: there is no record of Christ speaking of it. It was condemned in Jewish law, as recorded in Hebrew Scripture (aka. the Old Testament) -- as was the eating of forbidden foods, working on the Sabbath, and public interaction during a woman's menstrual period. It was basically established by the Apostles that Gentile converts to Christianity would not be required to follow these laws. Also, remember that these laws may have been written at a time when population growth was far more critical than it is now.
The only reference to homosexuality in the New Testament was made by Paul in Romans, in which he seems to have opposed it. It must be remembered that this was only Paul's opinion; his letters were not collected for use as biblical canon until the second century. Furthermore, the people that he was addressing in his letter -- the Romans -- practiced a form of homosexuality that most modern-day homosexuals would probably consider offensive; wealthy, married Romans would engage in homosexual acts with a number of young men, and often children. Paul had every right to condemn such acts as these, and this may have been the reason for his condemnation of the Romans' homosexual activity.
On a larger scale, it should be noted that other human societies, before the spread of Judeo-Christian influence, typically saw nothing wrong with homosexuality: Buddhists had no problem with it, and among Native American cultures it was often considered an honored trait. Furthermore, hoosexuality has been well documented in sheep, cattle, apes,. and even penguins. Homosexuals have also been shown to have some differences in their brain morphology, including a larger anterior commisure and differences in the hypothalamus. People who have known homosexuals can attest that they often exhibit comparatively feminine traits (or masculine, in the case of females) even in childhood.
In conclusion, one should remember that homosexuals do not hurt anyone. They are no more likely to be pedophiles or rapists than are heterosexuals. They are non-violent, and often compassionate and charming people. Their union has no impact on the lives, rights, or marriage of heterosexuals. Instead of condemning the harmless, religious leaders should instead be focusing on far greater threats that affect a considerably larger number of people: poverty, war, disease. Not to condemn the innocent, but to tolerate with love and compassion, and to provide assistance to those who are suffering -- this alone should be the motivation of every true Christian.

Yes, your right! Both are sins according to the bible. Some have problems with one and others with the other, while still others have problems with dishonesty or copying DVD's or some other sin. It all boils down to the fact that we are on this planet to learn to over come the desires of our body's and learn to think and feel on a higher plane of existence! As we over come these weaknesses of the body we bring ourselves closer to God.
We become spiritually stronger and bring our spirits to the next level (so to speak) each time we over come another weakness of the flesh! There fore fulfilling the purpose of our existence in this mortal world!

There's nothing wrong with homosexuality, and many Christians are very discriminatory and judgemental when they make comments like that. I personally am more offended by the one night fling marriages in Las Vegas than gay relationships. However, Christians are very-close minded on this topic. I think the reason they are like this is because they can't think for themselves, and they blindly believe anything that their church or the bible says. If they learn to think for themselves, they will realize that being gay is not how we're supposed to be, but many people can't help it. They should be allowed to date or marry whoever they want.
P.S. I'm straight
