I don't think "attacked" is the word but certainly Catholics are maligned by Protestants much more than Catholics malign them. I'm 61 & Catholic & have never once heard a priest or nun say anything against any other religion.
For some reason, Protestants seem to need to explain what's wrong with Catholicism. Is it because they wonder why the founders of their churches left the Catholic church?
Whereas us Catholics know we go back to the beginning & we don't feel the need to denigrate other religions to explain our existence.

The Catholic priests with altar boys did quite a show to attract attention but televangelists and their male and female hookers relations are making a come back so it's not easy to decide who is in front...

Personally I believe the Seventh Day Adventist (Protestant) are more openly attacked, because we worship on Saturday. (The Seventh Day of the week)
We as Americans are supposed to have the right to worship as we please, but getting fired from work because you can't or won't come in on Saturday is almost impossible to prove against a company in court.

People have more jokes about Catholics here because of the pedophile priests and bad catholic school girls. Madonna went to Catholic school.
Of course, I might just know all the Catholic jokes because I'm protestant. lol.
