i wouldnt worry to much. dogs can eat all kinds of stuff you would think that would make them sick. Watch when he goes "potty" to see if he passes anything. Either way I think he should be ok. My dog eats the most amazing stuff ( plastic toys, sqeakers, etc) Just be careful what you leave on the dogs level that he can get to. It just like a kid, you have to dog proof your house and your life.

Depending on the time that has passed since the ingestion, i would keep a close eye on the puppy. The fact that he didn't chew it is actually a bonus, because chicken wings splinter badly when broken up, and can cause digestive lacerations in the stomach or intestines, not to mention the painful diarrhea that can follow after digestion. (fyi, the surgery for a digestive laceration can be $600-1000+)
If the puppy seems to be 'normal'-- eating, drinking, active i wouldn't worry terribly. If, however, the puppy is lethargic, seems to be in pain, not eating or drinking, i'd be concerned enough to either call your vet or hightail it to a close emergency vet.
It's not uncommon to observe the puppy having some abdominal discomfort about 12-24 hours after the ingestion, and watch for blood in the stool, indicating a possible tear in the colon or small intestines. I'd also be concerned with vomitting. Once may be normal, a few more times, may be the signal to get some help. Good luck! Keep those chicken bones FAR out of puppy's reach!

Hi. 1. First try & stay calm....I'm sure you are scared.
2. Try .... IPECAC Oral Solution at your pharmacy...even at this hour some late night or all night stores like Walgrens; CVS etc will be open.
3. Give 1 to 2 cc of the Ipecac and keep your puppy in a confined area...so he will throw up the chicken wing whole. It should come up in appx. 20 minutes after you give him the Ipecac.

4. Be sure you pick up the chicken wing quickly or he will try to INSTANLY swallow it again. I know it sounds strange, but trust me, he will. This is probably the scariest part...because then you will have to repeat the procedure.

5. If this doesn't work for some reason...and I'm sure it will....take him to the vet lst thing in the am. or to an emergency clinic this evening. Almost 98% of the time...they will throw it back up with the Ipecac.

Hope this helps both you and your puppy. Patti

if he crys or gets belly ache, or trouble passing or vomits in pain or anything at least you know what to go to the vets for asap! Chances are he'll be OK but any symptoms and off to the vet asap and never mind how much itis, it is life threatening if he needs a vet!
I'm a nurse and if there is a bowel obstruction I can tell you thats what to do

You shouldn't give a dog chicken bones because the sharp pieces may peirce your dogs guts. But anyway, just make sure that your pup is ok by constantly checking on him in the next 24 hrs and if he is showing any signs of pain, take him to the vet immediately

I'm not a vet, but I do know a thing or to about animals, especially dogs. First off you shouldn't ever give your dogs chicken bones or any other cooked bones for that matter. Bones that are cooked will splinter and can perforate the esophagus, stomach, or intestines. Right now it sounds like your dog is fine, just watch him for a little while.

The correct thing to do is phone the vets surgery and see what they would suggest.
Its good that he didn't chew it but you could be headed for problems, the vet is the best person to advise.
Fingers crossed.

raw chicken wings are good for your dog, but when cooked the bones become brittle and splinter, if it was cooked keep a close eye on her,and refer to the vet immediatly if problems occur.

I was once told that its wrong to give chicken bones (and some other types of bones) to dogs because there is a high risk these bones can put splinters of bones in to the dog's mouth and stomach.

Please be careful with what you allow your dog to eat. Hopefully he will pass the bones out.. and if they were greasy then hopefully they wont splinter in his stomach.

chicken bones are fine as long as they are not cooked if they are cooked thats when they can splinter and cause problems but if he has swallowed it whole i would still get him checked over by your vet
