If De La Hoya trains the right way and devises a perfect fight plan against Mayweather, he'll win this fight. Floyd Mayweather is an overrated boxer. He's good, yes, but he's not been thoroughly tested. He's been fed with bums that had made him look invincible. Oscar De La Hoya is already one of the greats in the history of the welterweight-middleweight divisions. He's already up there with the likes of Ray Leonard, Hearns, Duran and Hagler. He may have his weaknesses but he never ducked anyone in his career. He had good competition in his weight class/es and he fought all of them.

I think they'll be fighting at 154 so Oscar has an advantage in size and strength for he's a natural at that weight. Mayweather may lose some speed with the additional poundage although he'll still be faster and quicker than De La Hoya. For Oscar to win, he's got to match jabs with Floyd. De La Hoya packs a stiff left jab which he can use to stymie Mayweather. He should also keep the fight in the center of the ring. I'm sure he'll learn a lot from Freddie Roach. If he follows his trainer, he'll score an upset.

Man, this is a hard fight for me to pick. Both guys are outstanding fighters and i think this will be a great fight. My gut feeling is that De la Hoya will win a very close decision because i think Floyd will fight TOO defensively in this fight and he just won't be busy enough because he'll feel De la Hoya's power early in the fight and will want to box and move more. I can see Oscar cutting the ring off and firing to the body with his left hook and uppercut and Floyd on his bike and trying to potshot Oscar from the outside. Oscar will be the busier fighter and win a split decision. And to my guy Kevin, man, cut De la hoya a little slack bro! You say he fights his worst against good fighters? How? Against Trinidad he was boxing the snot out of him and was barely even touched by Felix for the first 8 rounds or so. Sure, it was foolish of him to run away in the last 3 or 4 rounds, but everyone knows that he should have gotten the decision. Against Mosley in the first fight it was a spirited battle with De la Hoya winning the first half of the fight then tiring in the second half and Mosley coming on in the later part of the fight to win a close decision.

The second Mosley fight was also a good battle and most ringside observers, including team HBO, thought Oscar won the fight. Against Quartey, another hotly fought fight by both men and Ike was a dangerous fighter at that time and Oscar knew the fight was very close going into the final round and he knocked Quartey down and almost knocked him out, but he won the decision in a very good fight. Against Whitaker, while Oscar didn't look his best, he fought a decent fight against an all time great who makes everyone look bad, just ask the great Julio Ceasar Chavez, whom Whitaker made look like an amateur. And Against Hopkins, Oscar, who we all know is not a middleweight, fought a damn near even fight with Bernard until he was hit with a perfect body shot. I guess the point i'm trying to make is just because you lose doesn't mean that you looked your worst. Was that the worst Leonard you've seen in his first fight with Duran? Of course not! He fought a tremendous fight but he lost! C'mon Kevin, give Oscar a little more credit than that, the man is a great fighter who never ducked anyone, give him his due!

I'm picking De La Hoya to win this fight. Oscar has been in with fast fighters before like Mosley, Whitaker, and Camacho so i think he'll adapt to Floyd's speed, but Floyd hasn't seen anything close to Oscar as far as his opponents go. Oscar has good speed and power but also good footwork, which i think will be a key factor in the fight. Oscar is not a plodder like Baldomir, Corrales, or Gatti and i think he can cut the ring off with his footwork and force Floyd to fight him. And Floyd has not been in with anyone with the hand speed of Oscar maybe other than Judah and Judah was giving Floyd fits early in the fight, but Judah doesn't have the heart of De La Hoya and Judah basically quit fighting when Floyd made the adjustments and started to take over. This will not happen with Oscar, he's going to be in Floyd's face all night and he won't let up. Don't get me wrong, Floyd is an outstanding fighter, but styles make fights, and i truly believe that this is a bad match up for Floyd style-wise. And another key factor is Floyd's chin. We just don't know if he can take De La Hoya's punch. Floyd was hurt pretty bad against Demarcus Corley and seemed stunned by Judah early. And Oscar can punch better than both of those guys, so who knows what's going to happen if Oscar catches Floyd with a huge left hook. Oscar has the hand speed to catch him at some point in the fight, so we'll see. I say Oscar by a late round stoppage.

I think that if Oscar can corner PBF and work the body and soften his legs up a bit and apply the left hook while keeping him at bay with good jabs, Oscar will take the fight....

The ONLY thing Mayweather has going for him is speed, which will taper off substantially after the fourth round. Ive seen it time after time...the drop off is noticeable and I'm SURE the goldenboy is noticing.

I think Delahoya has more of an arsenal than does PBF. He hasn't really been tested yet....he's gonna get worked.

I can't wait....

floyd mayweather and here is y i say this

Are you kidding? All of you so called boxing fans who really are DLH fans. let me remind you of two things: DLH in his biggest fights vs. Whitaker, Quartey, Trinidad, Mosley, And Hopkins has always fought his worst. They are all losses or disputed decision wins. The best fighters in the world should fight their best in the big fights. As for his wins at jr. lightweight to jr. welterweight he always had huge size advantages against those fighters. You are talking about a fighter who stands 5'10" and regularly had 3 to 4 inches in height and 10to 15 lb. weight advantages. Against Mayweather he again will be the bigger fighter but it won't make a difference. PBF doesn't get hit, is too fast, and while he probably wont score a clean KO, DLH 's face will be a mess by the 8th or 9th round. On top of this, in his biggest fights he has scored KO's or pitched shutouts vs. Baldomir, Judah, Gatti,Corrales, and Hernandez. I call fights like I see them and PBF is the present and Oscar is the past. Even DLH in his prime would lose.PBF by TKO 10!!

Guys, You guys just have to give mayweather all the respect. Oscar was a good boxer and not in his prime. Mayweather should be consider one of the all time greats. He can adapt to any style. Come May 5th, you guys will be so suprise what will happen to Oscar. Please i don't want anyone to give any excuses that Oscar is no longer the boxer he was before. The only chance Oscar has is to pray for Floyd's hand to be messed up. Pound-for- pound King Floyd is so talented/gifted. I pray he destroy Oscar the same way he did to Gati. This is your time to put up the show. People don't know how hard you train and how discipline you are. Jab, body punch or Oscar left hook is NOT going to work against Flyod.

I admit that Mayweather was not aggressive in the Baldomir fight but that was because he did not want to risk this payday against Oscar so he boxed for 12 rounds, if you saw the chance to make 20mil on you next fight would you take that many chances in a tune up and blow it? Probably not, because we seen what happened earlier that year when Zab blew a 3 million payday by not being fully prepared against Baldomir.

Come on golden boy lovers - Oscar wilts when he fights anyone of substance. Also DLH won't be able to deal with PBF speed. Oscar take your $$ and listen to your wife and retire. PBF take this payday and make some more $$$ if the price is right.People please understand that Oscar has always had problems with BOXERS. He dominates punchers. Whitaker, Mosley, Hopkins, Quartey are just a few examples. Floyd will stay on the outside and tap oscar all night. He too fast and techinically sound for Oscar. Its gonna be a good one though

This is going to be a close fight. Mayweather will win by close decision. I want DeLaHoya to win but Mayweather is too quick and will probably land more punches. If DeLaHoya can get to Mayweather often and slow him down Mayweather is in trouble late in this fight.

The blogbaba has got to go with Floyd on this one. Oscar is battling father time as much as any particular opponent, and Floyd must have watched the Shane Mosley fights. Floyd's speed is better than Shane's, and Floyd coming up in weight made a KO victory over Oscar unlikely any way. Oscar has a punchers chance, and not much else.

Maywheather by decision.

Kevin, I couldnt have said it better myself. FINALLY, someone who knows boxing! Oscar's style isnt bad for Floyd, it's vice versa. We havent seen the best of Floyd yet, and I have the feeling that on May 5th, with the world watching, PBF will put on a show for the ages.
