That cat probably won't want to go back to its former home once it got fed at yours.

About a year ago we packed kiki (our favorite fat cat) in his cat carrier, threw him on the floor of the car and moved across town (about 3 miles from old house to new house). The 2nd day there, we let kiki out to play but that night he didn't return. He was gone for over 3 wks, and I had feared the worst. As a last ditch attempt to find him I drove past my old apartment and he was sitting in the driveway, fat as could be and waiting to go home. I don't know how he found his way back there, but apparently it is possible for a cat to find their way home. You live near a busy street so I would keep the cat. Put up signs at gas stations and the like and hope for the best. Otherwise she's yours treat her good and she'll love you forever...you're her hero.

Yes she can. If she wants too. I once lost my cat 10 miles from home. We were taking him to a shelter for the weekend. Well he saw that and bolted. 3 months later he was back home. He wasn't all skinny and frazzeled either. He had been taken care of along the way by good people like you.

I suggest putting up some signs around the area to see if anyone is missing him/her. The cat will not be able to find its way home more than likely. That is probably why it ended up at your house in the first place. Please don't live it outside alone... if you can't keep it and give it proper care please at least take it to the vet or the humane society.
