For example ...
Gays ...
Potheads ...
Wiccans ...
... whatever offends you ... how does it affect you directly? and how are you affecting THEM directly?

You can't prove something affects god, give me a break. How does it affect you in a tangible fashion? Legislation, for example, is tangible.

humans wrote the Bible. do you have anything to support your knowledge of the feelings of god other than circular arguments?

anything the lord could say through Isaiah he could say directly so I don't have to take Isaiah's word for it that god supposedly talked to him

so if I'm anything less than a communist i am not human/e? eek.
do you understand the line between being compassionate and being paternalistic (forcing your will onto others)?
i guess anything i want to do to someone, i merely need say it is out of "love" and I'm absolved of any wrongdoing. how convenient

when people are on the public dole, you need to eliminate the welfare state, not use it as an excuse to tell others how to live
two wrongs don't make a right

we have laws for dealing with killing. we have no need of additional laws that deal with someone's lifestyle. killing is a crime whether you are gay, a pothead, or a fundie baptist.

who are you to decide that a person committing suicide isn't making the best choice for their personal situation? pretty arrogant of you ... one more instance of "we know what's best for everyone" but ourselves

It affects God, because God loves them....and so it also affects us who love God...
edit: The Word of God proves that it affects God...As the Lord said through Isaiah, “…you have burdened me with your sins and wearied me with your offenses.”

People have this mistaken idea that other people's lives are really their business. They believe that they need to enlighten everyone to see their point of view - so that we all may be saved.
Take for example an answer above about gays - it is assumed that all gays have AIDS. Not true. In fact many heterosexual people have it. In fact it is spread rapidly in Africa because of heterosexual activity. Don't hear about that. They are also looking into the possibility that a governement vaccine actually lead to the epidemic of HIV - not God's wrath.
I am personally very tired of everyone being in my business. Of having to hear over and over again how they want me to see the light. Of how they don't approve of this and that.
If I had listened to everyone I would have married my first fiancee - who was a two timer, never gone into the military, never would have fought for my health care, never relearned how to talk, and never would have married my husband - who loves me more then life itself.
Unfortunately, most people aren't going to tire of giving advice - even though it is obvious that they are truly doing more harm then good. They just can't leave it alone.

Why are gays always blamed for causing and spreading Aids? Like only gays have Aids? Get real people and read a book for heaven sake. Gay people are probably taking better care of their sexual health than heterosexuals cause they learned their lesson in the 80's about casual unprotected sex. And why is gay always referred to as two men in a dark alley doing something perverted...usually the one down the dark alley is a 'straight" man raping some girl.
We all have what we call personal space. Once you violate my personal space with your opinions, beliefs, accusations whatever then your interfering in my life. Keep it all in the public space in which I can take it or leave it then we are cool with each other.

for example if your gay and you hit on me I say "no thank you I'm married"
If your a pothead I say "pass it over here"
if your a wiccan I say "do you know my friend Laura"?
If you are a tangerine I say "your tangible" LOL
farts offend me, it directly affects my nose, there fore your embarrassment effects you when I tell you "you stink"

As a Buddhist and one who has taken the Bodhisattva path... my only concern is to help the person. My promise has been to not achieve Enlightenment until all others have...
SO, my responsibility comes to help them. But only if they want help. And someone who is Gay, or Wiccan doesn't need to be helped...they are fine just they way they are. it is people who abuse, or are abused, people who do heavy drugs, people who cause harm to others....
Maybe our world would be a better place if we spent time helping those who truly needed help (like the homeless) rather than people we assume need help... like homosexuals... when they don't.
Does this make sense??

Because lordy lordy we all need to be saved from the evils of this world from right wing christians that we don't know. Maybe I should go and get saved by one of these people. No I won't because I can't stand them for another minute. They are selfish and egotistical brats.

Typical Christian point of view. If your God is the only one to judge man then what anyone else does do not affect you. It only affects them in your God's eyes. Man extends his action on Gods behalf to run his own agenda.

I don't have the responsibility for othersthoughts. I have enough to do keeping my life straight. I know at least one of each example you gave. My moral standards are set by what I believe to be the truth. I would expect that you set your morals according to your belief system. If they come to me and want to know what i think--I tell them. If they don't want to know--I don't try to be their conscience. Life is a series of choices--they have to live with their choices

How do they affect us directly? Here's a few examples
Gays - AIDS, we have to pay for it out of tax dollars. No gay person in the world has the money to pay for their own treatment, insurance and tax dollars pay the rest.
Potheads - don't work, have accidents, have higher incidences of lung cancer and medical problems .... again, it affects us directly.
Not to mention the children of drug users and others who want to live their lives their own ... why do you think so many are in foster care? Why so many people on the streets? These people are just living their lives as they wish, and we are footing the bill.
So yeah, I care, not just about their souls and their bodies, but I care about my money too.

I don't give two figs what anybody does.
I suspect that those who are genuinely free do not find it necessary to control others. Which brings up the question: Just how free are we, anyway?

I do not care if someone is gay, or smokes pot, or worships a table.
Everyone has the right to do and be what they want!
I would not push my beliefs on someone else,
and I do not want them to push theirs on me either.
