Fasting is generally just limited liquids, so you don't dehydrate.

This is not recommended if you have especially low or high blood sugar, such as a diabetic condition, or any other major health issue. Please be careful. You want to pray to god, not come for a long visit.

LivN: The "fast" mentioned within the Bible, is one of total abstinence from both, food and liquids, for a period of time. Before you attempt this though, make sure you are not diabetic or have other medical conditions or issues to contend with. Ensure to take your prescribed medications (with liquid or food if required) and then, return to your fast. The objective of fasting, is to draw closer to God . Prayer with fasting is a means to bring the reality of our relationship with God into focus, in a materialistic and rushing about society. This is a great spiritual "tool" along with prayer and study. Remember; God looks at the heart and is receptive to your fast - no matter how long. All the best to you!

Actually a fast is anything you give up for a period of time to spend the time you would have given this item with God. Eating is one used alot. But you can fast from other things like t.v. and devote the time away with God. Please with food don't go over 3 day's and if your just starting go 1 day, then later you can progress from there.

Depending on the length of your fast, check with your GP before you fast. Some people only fast for one meal. Others do for 24 hours. If you fast more than one day, drinking water is really the only thing that is done. If nothing else, discuss the fast with your Pastor.

It seriously depends on your religion's definition of fasting. To Mormons, fasting is completely going without food, and only drinking water. To Catholics, fasting is not eating meat. And there are a whole spectrum of definitions in between these two.

Fasting can be as simple as abstaining from eating meat to abstaining from all solid foods. It's up to you.

I would recommend that you consider that God doesn't want you to make yourself ill. Eat enough to sustain your health.
