I'm still watching the post interview with Koppel...but I can already tell you (barring any last minute revelations), that I have always believed that Jesus was JUST A MAN...now I am even more convinced that he was just a man.

Do I think it's possible that they found the tomb of Jesus? Sure, I think it's possible. In my opinion, it's not probable because there are too many 'ifs' that have to fall into place for it to be true, but it's possible.
As a Christian, this didn't affect my faith at all. If they were able to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that those bones belonged to Jesus of Nazareth and that Jesus was married and had children and everyone was buried together in that tomb, then so what? Does that lessen the impact of his message? Does that make his life and his works any less wondrous?
I think Christians need to remember that the Bible is a historical reference but it was written by men in some cases centuries after the events in question took place. It's possible that, in the oral tradition, details were lost, exaggerated or completely taken out of context. It was also translated by men who, either through their own personal agenda, the ambiguity of ancient language or plain old stupid human error, may have mistranslated key passages. I think that, overall, the basic tenets of the message are there but I also think that we shouldn't get too wrapped up in focusing on the tiny details set forth. God gave us all an amazing capacity for critical thinking and discernment, and I think he meant for us to use that ability.

Interesting information that will never be proofed by anyone to be accurate .
The same standards applied to the bible also show it to be a work of some what unreliable facts and stories linked with a common theme .
Faith is what the catholic church has as the definitive answer to all questions about God .
As the catholic faith is the keepers of the traditions of the founders of Christianity in its broadest terms all other protestant christian religions differ in some manner with the original creators "(creators)" of religion .
God can not be created or destroyed .Its a given that the universe was created and by what we may never know .
We can argue till our own deaths and believe what we want and nothing will change .
Our minds are filled with many incorrect theory's and information that is suspect as fact ,with religion being the largest pretender of fact told through out history .
religion obeys no rules and changes as does the season and will in the future if it is proved that the tomb is the actual burial place of Jesus his wife son and parents .
Intelligent people realize or believe that with out religion man is nothing more then an animal . And as such he would certainly slaughter the weak . Rape women and kill the children of his adulterous wifes . He would surround himself with well armed guards who would enforce his will upon others and thus society would decay .
I have no faith and believe religion to be a tool to deal with simple minded people .

Interesting, I've only been sort of half watching/listening to all of it. I guess it can't be proved either way and I'm not particularly invested in it whichever way it goes.
What I don't like is the line it immediately draws in the sand. I just wish people could be more objective and open minded about stuff like this. I think of myself as more of a passive observer. I guess I'd be classified as agnostic if I have to be put into such a defined group.
Strong believers on either side will fight and argue beyond the support of any evidence either way. Atheists rag on those with faith for clinging to their beliefs yet atheism is a belief as well. It's all ridiculous to me and there are more important matters to be dealt with.
Why should those of faith fight so vehemently to prove their faith. Faith is faith, you can't prove or disprove it, you either have it or you don't. Make your choice, either is fine, and get on with the here and now.
On the same note why do those without faith care so much that there are people who do believe? Why do you care?
It's all so damn simple but people as a whole can't do it. Just believe what you like and let everyone else do the same. I hate people and I hope for humanity's destruction (without eternal salvation) myself.... Huh, whaddaya know; guess I'm a nihilist as well as agnostic.

While I do not think it gave or presented absolute, irrefutable evidence that the tomb was indeed jesus and his family, it did raise some very interesting questions and possibilities. IF at some point it can be proven to be true it would forever change current christian beliefs.

It doesn't change my faith in any way. Nice story, but that is all that it is. It leaves out many points of history of that age. Jesus, or more exactly, Joshua, was a common name of that time. The tomb could be long to just anyone, literally. Since I do believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus, this is just one more situation of people doing their best to disprove the Bible. It's as old as time, and isn't going to change anytime soon.

I think nothing has changed. It appears to me that those who believe without doubt will continue to do so, those who never believed will do so, and the people of faith who have some doubt will continue in limbo.
I have doubts because God gave me the brain to have doubts. But I have faith because God gives me the will to believe. My faith is to believe in the mystery.

Well, I watched a little bit of it, and I don't think we'll ever know. How would we really know if it's Jesus's DNA? Nobody's preserved it for us to know.

the funny thing is that most people think that this is relavent, but where jesus is buried is COMPLETELY irrelevant. what he did is much more important. stop over-sensationalizing everything about the man
