Possibly because everytime we sneeze our hearts stop beating for a second. It would be the nicest thing we could hear before we die. By the way, never hold in a sneeze, you could pop your artery!

Back in the day when the Black Plague was going around...Sneezing was a symptom of that you were infected by it and that you had a good chance of dying.
