Heavy cream, also known as whipping cream, is a rich dairy product with a butterfat content of at least 36 percent. For the best flavor and cooking properties, buy 100 percent natural fresh cream with a short shelf life printed on the carton; avoid long-lasting varieties that have been processed by ultraheat methods. Heavy cream is also known as double cream.

When you go to the store you can buy light cream, heavy cream, or half & half, heavy cream is much thicker and has more fat. This is also the best for making whipped cream if the store does not sell whipping cream

You can find heavy cream in the dairy aisle of the grocery. It's exactly what it says. It's the same as whipping cream, however I'd just buy the heavy cream. (Heavy cream, for clarification, is just milk with more of the fat in it - thicker than the cream you'd put in coffee)

The term double cream, or heavy cream refers to the milk fat content of the cream.
Normal cream has around 20%, double/heavy cream is up around 50%.
This makes the cream easier to whip, or easier to manage as topping and stuff because it’s much thinker.

Heavy cream is the top part, most butter-fat part of fresh milk. It is skimmed off to make, among other things, whipped cream.
While it is very high in fat, it doesn't make it totally bad. Just don't eat lots of it every day.

Depending on where you are in the world you would look for one of the following by name:
Heavy cream; double cream; thickened cream; whipping cream.
It's all the same thing.
