How much satisfaction do you get from causing the religious to go against their beliefs? Either through temptation, taunting, or just speaking logical facts?
I have to admit, I do get a little satisfaction out of it.

Really great question. I hadn't thought of it that way.
I suppose "a lot." And just because "thinking" was my path to freedom. It's like teaching a kid to ride a bike. Once you get it, you like to teach other people to ride that bike!

If I understand the question correctly, how much satisfaction do I get to get someone to go against their beliefs? by tempting taunting or speaking logical facts?
Will, people are in charge of their own lives and do what they beileve is right or they do wrong by their own standards, I don't think I influence anyone to go against their own beliefs,
as for speaking logical facts, I'm not sure I have said anything original that hasn't already been stated.

When I surrender to the irrationality of my anger and frustration with them for what their organizations are doing to block economic and social justice, not to mention scientific progress, in the US...I do take a certain amount of joy in aggravating them. However, I do acknowledge this is an example of my own irrationality.
A more rational course is to persuade those who are impaired by religiosity to consider the value of logic and to accept the responsibility for thinking for themselves. No book, much less one written pretty much in the Stone Age, can really be a complete guide for how one is to live one's life in all circumstances and throughout all time.
It is said that in the US, we prize the individual. It is also said that we place great value on concepts such as freedom and liberty. Ironically, religion, by its very nature, negates the value of the individual and is essentially hostile to anything that smacks of real individual freedom and/or liberty. We must try to the best of our ability to refrain from counterproductive antagonizing of the religious just because they are religious. Instead we must guide them to the realization that religion is irrational and that, not only is it inadequate in meaningfully providing them with effective life strategies, it is also essentially anti-democratic and therefore, to use this much abused term, un-American.

I don't think they go against their beliefs. If they have faith, they believe no matter what... They are not interested in facts, logic etc...
I do enjoy pointing out the hypocrisies ,lies and nonsense that some christians display from time to time though :-)

Why would you purposely want to do that?
There are alot of kind hearted people of all belief systems and for somebody to want them to stumble and get satisfaction out of that is just plain rude.

I don't think I've ever had the talent to do that... I'd rather people follow what they believe to be right if it's the only thing that keeps them on the straight and narrow.

Tempting and taunting not really. If I get them with facts, a lot. It is great to force them to actually have to think.

Not much. Let people be happy in whatever they believe, as long as they aren't hurting others or waving it in my face.

Heh, it hasn't really happened. I've had religious friends become non-religious, and it hasn't been because of me.
