I am thinking about getting a puggle and I want to make sure she won't get too big. I know as a puppy she will be smaller than when she is mature, but I don't want her to be too big. -Please serious answers only and no answers against getting a puggle for the reason of being a "designer dog" or "encourging the sale of blended breeds". Thanks.-

In response to Drezzdogge, I already have a lab/german shepard mix and now I want a smaller dog.

They are a relatively small breed but it's difficult to predict the size for sure since you are dealing with a mixed bread. The best guess is to judge from the size of the parents but even that isn't sure fire. A friend just got a puggle puppy and was told that her's wouldn't grow over 15lbs. I was told that about my mixed breed as well and she's now 21 lbs. at 8 months of age. Whatever you decide to do, please be sure you are dealing with responsible breeders. Good luck!

Puggles are more comparable to the terrier group than the toy group. They are intelligent, energetic little dogs that require quite a bit of exercise and metal challenges.
The real determining factor is the size of the beagle. If the parent beagle is the smaller 13' beagle, you will get a smaller puggle. If a 15' Beagle is the parent then you will get a larger puggle. Aside from that there are not too many other variables. They will generally be between 13 - 15 inches and 18 - 30lbs. Of course, there are exceptions, but you should be looking in that range if you want to ensure a healthy well breed puppy. Take a look at my pictures section of my website below. There are plenty of pictures to give you and idea of how large they can be full grown.
Find a reputable breeder! Good Luck

They look like a small breed, not toy breed.
I've been seeing at least a half dozen puggles at the shelters near me. I think they are high energy.. so investigate a bit before you buy.
Also you might want to adopt an adult dog because then you would know the size and temperament.

Puggles are definalty not a toy breed. They are about the size of a beagle. Though they are bred with pug and beagle, they tend to grow the size of the beagle. Beagles are not big dogs at all. They are slightly bigger than a jack russel, about the lengh of a cocker spaniel, but a little taller.

Easy answer. Puggles are baby echnidas. NOT a breed of dog. Go to a shelter if you really want to find a pug/beagle mix. See link below.

They're not a breed. They're mutts. You cannot be sure of the adult size. but it will be somewhere in the range between Pugs and Beagles. If you want to be sure about adult size, get a purebred. I'm not saying don't get a mutt, because they're wonderful, but if size is a main concern, there are no certainties with mixed breeds.
Nice screen name, btw. Huge Chicago fan, here.

She will be of undeterminable size. As puggles aren't a breed, you don't know what you're getting. I'd say small-medium to be safe.
If you want a specific size, adopt one that was rejected once the novelty wore off.

They're a mutt, so you can't guarantee what their size will be. They may be the size of a pug, they may be the size of a beagle. No way to tell.
If they were a "breed" you'd be able to predict with some degree of certainty.
They're not, so you can't.

i love my puggle, toby! he's the perfect size. he's definitely not a toy breed. he's about 16 pounds and not gonna get much bigger. i've read they can get up to about 20 pounds. i also read somewhere that they've starting breeding "toy" puggles which stay about 10-12 pounds. don't know much about those though
