Eat bananas and melons. Usually I experience that when I haven' t had enough potassium. Eat bananas and adding calcium like the other person said would also help. Always a good idea to check it out with your doctor.

Use the same principles (the knots will be bigger and able to use more pressure)
Muscles involved will be in the back, rump, and legs. The knee is almost always quads, the feet almost always calves.

Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.

Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.

The cure - start with a professional massage, you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).

For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

Cramps are often due to a deficiency in either water in the body or vitamins...so try to drink more water and make sure you're taking a multi-vitamin every day. Often times it is a lack of potassium, which you can get from a banana....if that doesn't help, you should probably see a doctor.

hope this helps!

there are different causes of leg cramps. some are because of electrolyte imbalance (specifically calcium or potassium) but if you are a diabetic or you are taking blood coagulants you might want to consider consulting with your doctor because you may have deep vein thrombosis (especially when you have a sedentary lifestyle). if you have this condition, you feel more pain when you are walking or standing up and it is usually accompanied by swelling.

I get leg cramps now and then and I eat some bananas and they go away...it is a lack of potassium.

What did you do prior to getting those cramps? I would go see a doctor asap!

Take care of that leg and all the best,

Thanks

Sometimes eating bananas helps because they have potassium and you can get cramps from not having enough.

If anything I would say you need more potassium. Foods high in potassium includes bananas, cantaloupe, grapefruit, oranges, tomato or prune juice, honeydew melons, prunes, molasses and potatoes.
