When I wash my hair, the build-up of products gets so bad that I have to have the products stripped out of my hair at my hairstylists. The last time I was there, they used Windex window cleaner to remove it! This problem has become worse in the last 18 months. It seems my hair is extremely porous. The problem is difficult for me because my hair looks greasy all the time! Can anyone help me?

Burt's Bees Rosemary Mint Shampoo bar removes build up. You will need to use it continuously, as it will remove the build up gradually. It may get worse before it gets better, but once it gets better your hair should look and feel great.

Also, as a few people have mentioned, try a 3 to 1 distilled water to Apple Cider Vinegar rinse.

You may want to do an "elimination diet" with the hair products, ie stop using all of them then add back one by one. This will help you identify the worst of them and find one or two products that work without too much build up. Less is more.

I wouldn't go back to a stylist that put Windex in my hair.

Use somthing like tresemme clarifying shampoo or a specific product build up remover - if i went to the Hdressers and they used window cleaner i would go bananas!! What about about washing up liquid at a push? That tends to get everything out. It may be an idea to lay off teh products too for a while

Try not to touch your hair when its clean so it wont look greasy !!!

Grab a shampoo that clarifies. Something specifically for damaged and/or chlorinated hair and usually these should smell a bit strong, like herbs. Don't use something fruity like oranges or anything. Use less conditioner - actually follow the instructions on the back and use only a dime-sized amount. Products in general aren't good for your hair - limit the amount of hairspray you use, and switch (if you aren't using it already) to a non-aerosol hairspray if you depend on using it. This will allow you to control how much you use. Limit the amount of spritzes you use each day. Avoid gel. If you must, use mousse, and only a small amount (about the size of a nickel).

Ask your hairstylist for other tips. Windex doesn't sound healthy for your hair either, so perhaps you should consider finding a more experienced salon. Remember that what you pay for is what you get. It matters.

jeez-what kind of stylist do you go to that they used windex? There are professional products for that! Paul Mitchell's shampoo two is meant for removing build up-and if that's not strong enough their shampoo three is meant to remove hard chemicals and like chlorine and what not kind of build up so it's stronger. you should use one of these once a week instead of your reg. shampoo. what kind of products are you using too that get so built up?? Just because your hair is porous doesn't mean it should do that. My hair has been bleached and the porosity was shot to hell before-then it just doesn't absorb color correctly, it shouldn't affect products. Maybe what your using is too heavy-or crappy for that matter if your salon is using windex to get it out-have you tried baking soda? that actually makes more sense and I've used it for extreme build up before.
1. get a new stylist!!
2. have them recommend all new products and shampoos to you

Try Palmolive dish detergent (the green liquid) and rise out with very warm water. For second rinse, fill a pitcher with mixture of warm water and 4-5 tablespoons of plain vinegar. Also, wash your hair more often and lay off all those products. Consider a new haircut that's simple and easy to maintain?

My hair is the ideal comparable, yet I had countless chop up ends besides. as quickly as I went in to get it cut back, I have been given each and all of the dry, chop up ends off (no longer a super drastic substitute- in simple terms some million a million/2 inches off the backside) and a deep condition, and now i do no longer even ought to apply conditioner (it combs without knots) AND it takes plenty much less time to straighten. you could desire to bypass right into a salon and notice what they permit you recognize.

I would have a short haircut & wash daily with Neutrogena anti-residue shampoo. Sunsilk has a product for spongy hair. It is the magenta colored bottle.
