I have experience in many types of cleansing but I am working on a friends house and would like some advice

Esp., I have forgotten East, West, North, South. Which element and which goddess for each direction?

It depends on what school you subscribe to. American Indians use no god or goddess name. They merely burn the sage and allow the smoke to permeate the house. If you feel the need to invoke gods/goddesses, use the ones you like best.

East = Air, South = Fire, West = Water, and North = Earth, at least in Wiccan tradition. As for Goddesses... could be almost any. I would suggest Athena (intellect) for the East, Brigid (smithcraft) for the South, Tethys (fresh water) for the West, and Demeter (fruits of the earth) for the North, although I STRONGLY advise you to research each Goddess before calling Her -- it's only common courtesy to know who you are inviting! In Wiccan practice, I tend to call a single Goddess to oversee the purification rather than a Goddess for each direction; I personally favor calling Brigid or Hestia.

As a Wiccan, if I were cleansing a house with sage I would start in the east and work my way clockwise (to the right) back to the east, wafting the smoke into every corner and every closet. I would also cleanse the house with sound (the ringing of bells) and the light of a candle, also carried east to east, as well as salt water sprinkled around the perimeter -- using the four elements, or at least a representative of each, to cleanse and purify the space. I might also draw protective pentagrams on walls with salt water, one in the east, one in the south, one in the west, and one in the north. If the person requested wards, I would set them up and show the person how to maintain them.

Hope this helps. :-)

UGH!

Pagan here! East is Earth, South is Fire, West is Water, and North is Earth. I'm not sure what you are 'banishing' or 'cleansing' from, so call the watchtowers rather than a specific god/goddess.

If it is feared that 'evil' will return, be sure to sprinkle portals (doors and windows) with salt. Sea salt is preferred, but table salt will do.

Any other Q's, just ask. I IM and E-mail, if you click on me.

i think of you basically had a surprising attack of the runs, and the sage difficulty is in basic terms coincidental. i've got seen ghosts various cases, even communicated with them once or twice, and that i think of the full theory of burning sage isn't something yet mythology. Sorry, yet i do no longer think of it works in any respect. Ghosts, in accordance to maximum textbooks, are basically the spirits of deceased human beings. In different words, they're basically human beings like everybody else. Sage would not do something to the residing (except hypersensitive reactions are in touch), so i will no longer be able to be certain the way it would impact a ghost. there is fairly one burning herb that has effects on me in any way, and it beneficial ain't sage. on your case, it replaced into in all possibility the two an outbreak or something you ate that your physique did no longer trust. Fruit that's no longer ripe could have that result, as can nutrition with particular parasites or the rest. perhaps it wasn't even the watermelon, yet a no longer-so-clean coffee cup from the day earlier. In any adventure, the non-ghostly opportunities some distance outweigh the magical ones.

Hold the burning sage like a candle and recite the Lord's Prayer, "our Father, who art in heaven...", make sure the smoke permeates the air of each room. Have fun.
