Illegal immigration will not be addressed unless a scapegoat is needed. Too many people make a lot of money off of illegal immigrants. The rich like having cheap labor and they can insulate themselves from the problems they cause such as crime, overcrowded schools, overused public services since the illegal immigrant usually settles in the poor and working class neighborhoods. The powerful don't have to worry about lowered wages or competition for jobs. It is all good for them.
The only way to stop it is to jail or fine the !(#* out of companies/private citizens who employ them. If the fines outweigh the profit, illegal immigration will stop. It ain't going to happen because rich don't want them stopped and they are the ones who contribute to political campaigns.
FYI to above answerer: Illegal immigrants don't have the right to vote. Sure they could fake an ID and SS# and register but why bear the scrutiny to vote?

Immigration will never be addressed until a 3rd party is in control. The republicans have had 12 years to do something, and before the republicans got control, the democrats had 40 years to do something. In all that time, neither party has done squat to get control of the illegal immigration problem. As long as the republicans want cheap labor and the democrats want votes, you'll never see a change. There are only two ways you'll see a change in immigration policy that actually benefits Americans: A 3rd party in control, or a revolution.

Senator Kennedy and John McCain are currently working on an
immigration bill that would put most of the 12 to 20 million illegals
on a "path to citizenship." The Democrats in the Senate and some Republicans will vote to pass this bill and then a compromise may be worked out with the House of Reps. President Bush will sign a bill that gives amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. Bush loves the illegals! Most Americans do not want to give amnesty to millions of criminals who violated our border rules and who steal the identities of US citizens in order to
get employment.
Americans want to see our immigration laws enforced, not new legislation that provides citizenship to those who have broken our laws. We can reduce the population of illegal immigrants by attrition through enforcement. The 1986 amnesty was a failure that led to increased illegal immigration. Congress must not go down that road again. Increased immigration flows and leniency for illegals already in the country are exactly the wrong approaches to take to the immigration crisis that we face. We must secure our borders and go after the businesses that hire illegal aliens. The new amnesty and guest worker programs offered in the Kennedy-McCain bill will simply make the
problem worse. Go here if you feel the same way -

Not really. The problem is not that the government is unwilling to solve the problem. The problem is that there are no easy answer. I firmly believe that illegal immigration is one of the most important issues to come up in 2008 however none of the candidates are for changing the system or getting rid of the current one. the Bureaucracy is the problem and that ain't changing unless the people of this great nation do what Thomas Jefferson said and I will let the reader look that one up.

I don't as long as the currant Administration is in office and the people don't raise a little hell. We have to keep writing letters to our congressional representatives to tell them that we are not happy with corporate riches and less for the middle class and working poor.
Don't get me wrong both parties in congress are dragging their feet on the issue, but the Republican Administration has already demonstrated that they're not doing anything but blowing hot air.
Hopefully, we can get the Democrats to do something about the open border and enforce immegrations laws.

Sure, it will be addressed. When the political elites have made lots and lots of bucks out of their cheap labour. At that time they will use their corporate media to create a hate campaign against these illegals whom they have been exploiting all along.
Illegal immigration is a dirty business. Follow the money. Now you understand it. Simple.

The globalist factions of our government on both sides of the aisle are pushing for open borders and locking up law enforcement officers who enforce the law. They have made several powerful examples of this policy as of recent. What more proof do we need? The goal is to eliminate the middle class and have only lower class, poor, and elitist, globalists, who will continue with the shell game to amuse the mislead masses.

I don't think that illegal immigration will be addressed in the running for office speeches because they want the illegals' votes. After one is elected president, then I think we'll hear from them on illegal immigration. Let's just hope they're against it.
