I don't want to use baby, LOL =).. cos I think it's common. What do you suggest I use? =) May be in a language other than English =) Thanks

well, akachan is the word for a baby and no you can't call people akachan.

wives call their husbands Anata but ummm er... the term for girlfriend is kanojo..

Really in Japanese, the only terms i have heard are really english ilke Baibi or haani.

There are many ways to say it. Most common are:
akachan 赤ちゃん
akanbou 赤ん坊

It is not used as a term of endearment. The Japanese do not express terms of endearment in words as we do in English.

akachan, its not used for adults though only actual babies. you can add chan to the end of a name as a term of endearment.

No, but by just adding "chan" to that person's name/nickname, you are using a form of endearment toward them.
