My cat is too. Prunella has her "favorites," but most of the time, she is not social at all. When my grandson, who is 5 years old comes over, Prunella hides out for the duration of his visit and doesn't show herself until he is long gone. This is strange behavior, for he is very sweet to animals and has never hurt her or scared her in any way.
I guess you could try bringing your cat out when guests are at your home - make sure they're "cat" people, though - and maybe they could give her a treat or two.
Cats are cats - some are just one-person critters and are not going to be friendly to strangers, no matter what.

Sorry, but cats are born with personalities that are almost impossible to change. it is all too common for cats to be afraid of people. If she is lovable to you be happy about that. Cats are just very independent creatures and they have minds of their own. They are all but impossible to change. You can try to make the cat a bit more sociable by introducing her to one person at a time, slowly and letting her get to know one person slowly and see what happens, but don't push her to be with a whole group of people at once. Work up to it slowly.
Nothing is impossible.

Of all the cats we have had, there have been some that do not like to be held or loved. And they never changed. It come from how much interaction they early in their life. Being sociable is hard to teach a cat that is stuck in its on way. But, you can try having treats with you all the time and even under a pillow in your bed. Teach the cat to sleep with you and that it will get treats in it interacts with you might get it to be kind of a lap kitty. Good Luck.

Is she afraid of you? If so, she'll come around. Don't push it. Just give her lots of love & let her move at her own pace. She'll probably always be afraid of everyone else but that doesn't matter.
I had a cat for 6 yrs b4 she died & my mother only saw her once & that was becuz I took my Mom to her hiding place. My Mom joked that I had a 'made-up' cat.

Maybe, with time and love. I adopted an abused stray, and it took about a year before he stopped hiding behind furniture at every noise. He was terrified of men for a long time. Just give her any love she will tolerate, and don't force her. Definitely "bribe" her with food or anything else she really likes, then pet her while she's distracted. My abused kitty LOVES to be brushed, so that turned out to be the key to him opening up to new people.
