No, its not cheating but its very unfair on the horse, racehorses are bred to race, and it in their competitive nature to do so, also running an unfit horse will generally cause injuries, like tendon injureis which will result in a long time off the racecourse usually at least 12 months

I donet think it is cheating but I think that it is cruel to the horse to run it unfit. Not to mention that it would be danderous , unethical, and potenally career ending and could be very painful for if they are unfit they could go down and break a leg or any number of things they could do to themselves when they go down. There is no reason to run an unfit horse and I mean no reason. The only reason people do this is greed they donet care for the animal they just see it as a potenal meal ticket.

No,
Most horses don't peak until the 3rd race of their current form cycle. Not many horses can get race fit (or good enough to win) through workouts, a race adds so much more than they can get out of a workout. There is a paper out there called the Daily Racing Form, you can see the past performances of the horse and tell if it has needed a race or two before its optimum performance in the past. As for the comment about loosing the entry fee, unless its a stakes race you don't pay to enter your horse and most tracks pay down to last these days so you will pretty much cover your jock mount and vet bills to run it.

However, if you're talking about pulling a horse out of a field galloping it for a month then running it off a work or two I would say thats cruel not cheating, any idiot could see that it isn't going to win off 2 works and not bet it.

No, but it is CRUEL. Would you like it if someone forced YOU to work when you are totally out of shape? If you answered NO, then think about how the horse would feel. Horses that aren't fit are more prone to injuries and breakdowns at high speed- and because of this, they pose a serious threat to their own safety and the safety of others on the track with them. This question applies to other sports besides racing- in fact, it applies to ALL horse sports to some degree.

No just a waste of time and money, entry fees are too much to run an unfit horse

No. Running an unfit horse is not cheating. No an unfit horse should ever be allowed to run in a race but it does happen on occasion. When I mean unfit I mean one that is hurting or malnutritioned, etc.

It's been said, but I'll say it again. A horse cannot get fit just by galloping a few furlongs each morning. The only way a horse can get race fit is by racing.

Also it is not cruel! We are not talking about running horses that have not been in work for very long, we are talking about horses that are probably 80-90% fit and just need a run or two to bring them up to full fitness.

It's not cheating, but it's not going to win. It's wrong to the horse. And it wouldn't be a good idea for yourself because you'd basically be losing an entry fee. It's like going out and running a marathon without training for it at all... you won't stand a chance against the people who are more fit and are used to running a lot.

Yes not just because the horse will be mad at you,but because he wont feel like running.
Would you like to be made run if you had a sore leg? So don't run him again. Not until he feels better.
Good Luck to the horse.
and get well soon.

I don't think it's cheating but in the same time it's not allowed as horses don't feel like running.

Thanx!
