What do you think the difference between strategy and tactics?

Strategy is the use of your forces in large-scale, long range planning to achieve an overall goal. Tactics are the means by which you deploy, manuever, and engage your forces in battle in order to accomplish your strategy.

Strategy sets the direction and boundary's; tactics are the means used to achieve those goals with in the boundary's. Strategy without tactics is have a good idea and no where to go. Tactics with out strategy is like going for a drive with no map.

To paraphrase Sun Tsu: The difference between those who win and lose is that winners, win the war and THEN go to battle. Losers go to battle and THEN try to win.

In warfare, there are many levels of strategy of tactics.

Win the War.
--> by disrupting supply lines

Disrupt supply lines
--> by capturing this bridge

Capture this bridge
--> by making a coordinated military strike, with precision bombing of strongholds, immediately followed by a ground offensive

and so on.
