I am doing a project on china and its new economic steps towards becoming a nation that runs on alternative energy sources. So i have 2 questions, economically, socially, and politically, what is driving China's government to do this. And second for the same reasons what will happen to China if and when this happens.

Economically it makes perfect sense for a developing country to go green. Why? It's a renewable source. You don't have to process anything or use up any resources to use solar power and other natural, renewable resources. It also makes sense for a country as massive as China (in terms of size and population) because of the amount of resources it takes to continue using coal/nuclear power could be tremendous. Investing in solar or wind power might cost more to start out but it costs much less to use. Politically speaking, I'm not certain as I am not familiar with their government. However, it seems that United States is one of the few countries that has an economy that has strong grips on fossil fuel and nuclear technology. Getting rid of it entirely can cause a major hiccup, mostly with the wealthiest people in the country who, unfortunately, contributes to our governments political agenda in a major way. Not that this can't be changed, but the ones who can truly make a difference aren't always the most informed, thanks to our governments silent and invisible sensorship, nor do they want anything to change when everything seems to be going well. I'm sure that will change if our delicate weather system and our fragile environment changes drastically in the next few years, and once we take the blindfolds off that our glorious leader has put upon us.

As for what will happen to China if this happens...time will tell. I think that this will give them the competitive edge on the global economy and welfare of the Chinese.

LMAO China going green??????!!!!!!!!! They produce a new coal fired power plant each week and it's with old fashioned technology.Their rivers are extremely polluted and alot of the flooding happening in China is due to strip mining and other land altering practices.Their is a car buying/driving boom going on in China as well.Believe me most of those cars are good old fashioned gas combustible engines.China going green...Get real!

China does not care about our thoughts on global warming. That said they want us to see what they are doing that we are not-nuclear power plants, solar electric turbine power plants and dams. They are making more bad refrigerants than the rest of the world combined -global warming and ozone depleting gases. there goal is to be a world leader. They know oil is expensive, are not making any more. The life expectancy of solar and nuks are longer than oil fired plants.
