Okay, I know that seems like a weird question, so here's a little more background. I consider myself a "city mouse". Never been camping, always lived in urban places, not a big "nature" fan, etc... But as I've gotten older, I kinda regret never learning how to start a fire, pitch a tent or tie a decent knot, but it was never a HUGE disappointment. Anyways... a good friend of mine is getting married later this year, and myself and my pals have all agreed that a week of canoeing/camping/fishing, etc. would be more enjoyable and memorable than hitting strip clubs. I'm always up for a new adventure, but I'm 30 years old and have never been camping EVER! So I'd like to learn some basic woods skills, I guess. Not crazy "kill a deer with your bare hands and eat its heart" sorta stuff. Just stuff like how to tie knots, figure out where I am (North vs. South) and other stuff that those who've been Boy Scouts or Cub Scouts take for granted, but I never learned. Any help is greatly appreciated!
