michael jordan was great, but he had role models. Alexander the great was great, but he had role models, all people that are great needed role models to look up to. But the thing with God is, it's a concept of superiority, it's not a real thing like a person is a real thing. It's a concept of goodness. Now if you take this concept and apply it to the real world, and ask, if the world is what it is, what power created it? It could be a superior power, but it doesn't have to be. But regardless, if a superior power exists, then that power CAN NOT have a creator, because if it did, logically the creator would be more powerful than it, which would negate the definition of it being superior to all other things.
So whether God created the universe or not, if God is the one and only supreme power of the universe, it had to have come into existence of its own means and not the means of anything or anyone else.

God is the Creator. There is no other God. He was always existent. How did that happen? I don't know. How come He was God and not me or anyone else? I don't know. Do I understand it all? No.
I find answers to these questions in the Bible. I find the Bible offers the explanation that best seems to fit what is going on in the world. We live in a sinful fallen world that was created perfect and was marred by man's sin. Restoration is possible only through Christ, who claimed to be the only way to a relationship with God.

The Bible informs us that time is a dimension that GOD created , into which man was subjected ! It even tells us that one day time will no longer exist !! That will be called " Eternity " ! GOD Himself dwells outside of the dimension He created ( 2ND Timothy 1:9 --- Titus 1:2 ) ! He dwells in eternity and is not subject to time ! GOD spoke history before it came into being ! He can move through time as a man flips through a history book ! Because we live in the dimension of time , it is impossible for us to fully understand anything that does not have a beginning and an end ! Simply accept that fact , and believe the concept of GOD`s nature the same way you believe the concept of space having no beginning and end -- by Faith -- even though such thoughts put a strain on our distinctly insufficient cerebrum ; as you have demonstrated by your question !

To one who examines the evidence, there can be no doubt that God exists. Every building has a builder. Everything made has a maker. The fact of the existence of the Creator is axiomatic (self-evident). That’s why the Bible says, "The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God’" (Psalm 14:1). The professing atheist denies the common sense given to him by God, and defends his belief by thinking that the question "Who made God?" can’t be answered. This, he thinks, gives him license to deny the existence of God.
The question of who made God can be answered by simply looking at space and asking, "Does space have an end?" Obviously, it doesn’t. If there is a brick wall with "The End" written on it, the question arises, "What is behind the brick wall?" Strain the mind though it may, we have to believe (have faith) that space has no beginning and no end. The same applies with God. He has no beginning and no end. He is eternal.
The Bible also informs us that time is a dimension that God created, into which man was subjected. It even tells us that one day time will no longer exist. That will be called "eternity." God Himself dwells outside of the dimension He created (2 Timothy 1:9, Titus 1:2). He dwells in eternity and is not subject to time. God spoke history before it came into being. He can move through time as a man flips through a history book.
Because we live in the dimension of time, logic and reason demand that everything must have a beginning and an end. We can understand the concept of God’s eternal nature the same way we understand the concept of space having no beginning and end—by faith. We simply have to believe they are so, even though such thoughts put a strain on our distinctly insufficient cerebrums.

In order to believe in God you must take into account of what the Bible says about Him. There is a verse that suggests that God is a four dimensional being. And if this were true than thee is no way that we could even begin to comprehend the fullness and nature of God. The only things that we do know about Him are in the Bible.
Take this short story for example:
Imagine that I created a 2d world. And in this 2d world were my people there are only two of them Susie and John. Well John only see Susie as a line, he can't really understand her. So I am the god of this 2d world. Well one day I decide to stick my finger in their world and show them that i am god. Well basically all they can see is a circle, they will never be able to even to begin to comprehend the depth of my finger. And likewise if God is 4d then there is no way we can understand Him,

We are the created and the creators. Every time we leave these costumes of our souls and go to our true home for a glorious moment to our God; and God and we discuss the next costume to wear and to where we go to once again attempt to bring Love where seems not to be. When we Bring Love where Love seems not to be we are Creating God: Love is God.
You, know all those space ship flying a super fantastic speeds… there is nothing out there until the spaceships arrive with all the guesses and nun-guesses of what is out there and not out there by those who are responsible for getting the space ships out there.

God "IS"...
"IS" has no concept of time or space.
In the beginning there was God, God is present now, and God will be in God in the future.
God is eternal....
Honey, stop wrecking your brain with questions that aren't meant to be answered--you'll run yourself crazy because you're not going to figure God out--He just "IS"--good God!

I'm not a theologian by any means. The way I was always taught is that God is a spiritual higher power with no beginning and no end. It is difficult as a human being to think of anything without a beginning or end. It is all we know. That is where the concept of belief and faith enter into religion. Faith is the acceptance of things not seen or absolutely proven.

haha oh man this is a popular question.
Short answer: God is eternal. He always was, is and will be. He was not created by anything else. God is the only Creator.
And I"m going to stop there because if I go any deeper I'll be here for hours.
