Well - unfortunately there is no proof for that outside the bible. And that is rather contridictary at best. Especially since blood could not be used to wash away intentional sins in the Jewish religion. Only the request of forgiveness straight to God could. (Leviticus if you are more interested in how blood sacrifices really worked - and what sins they actually washed away).
And if Jesus died for us - why is sin still so prevelant? Why does Satan still have power? Why wasn't the world made any better - especially since it is a creation of God for humans? Why didn't Jesus fulfill the main prophecies of the Messiah, instead of just all the small insignificant ones - like riding on a donkey?
If your God loved me enough to sacrifice himself - why does hell still exist along with the taint of original sin?

Humans (with a sin nature) give up their lives, for STRANGERS very often on this planet. That an "immortal" god would give up 3 days to save all of humanity from eternal suffering, while being a "good thing" is not as noble as that which regular ("sinful" to you) people do on a regular basis.
