I always drink too much and talk and act ways that I am ashamed of the next morning as well as listened to a lot of stuff and seen things and participated in things that make me sicker than my hangover. i always regret going to bars. Is it the same for you?

When I was single I sometimes felt that way. And, yes, most of the people you meet act like a****** when they drink. However, if you're a nice person and you're at a bar, then there must be other nice people out there. I met my husband at a bar and he's a really good man. So, just keep your drinking to a minimum and relax and have fun.

It all depends on why I'm going and what state of mind I'm in. I can't say I've ever done anything too embarrassing while at a bar. I have gone through a phase where I was really self-destructive but then I didn't need to be at a bar to do things I'd end up regretting. I have met some really wonderful people at bars and I also have met some really awful people at bars. I guess my point is it's more up to you whether or not you'll lose control and act a fool and not so much if you're in a bar that matters.

When I was a little younger, yes, quite often. I think that people are generally the same wherever you go. Everyone has their share of problems... People that do spend a lot of time in bars are usually not the happiest, however. Not a hard and fast rule but have you ever been to a bar w/out drinking? Try it. Notice the abysmal mood/behaviors going on around you. Loud music and cigarette smoke can't mask that. You will leave feeling much better about yourself. If you REGRET anything then it's probably bad for you. If you're mature enough to ask this question...then you're mature enough to take care of yourself. Wish you the best.

This seems odd but I am giving you exactly the same answer I gave to the last question. Here it is:

I think people in the UK generally go to the pub to chill out and meet old friends and make new ones in a nice easy going atmosphere
There are no need for Airs and graces
You are away from all the cares of the world for a few hours.

I have never been to the States and can only get an impression of what American bars are like (probably a false one) from films.
And they come over as very sterile places where people go to drink.

I have met many American soldiers during my time in the military.
They tended to come across as brash abrasive characters, in an "Only my opinion counts". sort of way, and fairly unapproachable.

I don't think it's so much that the pubs are different; it's more a case of why you go there.

Nope, not for me, I am probably the exception to the bar scene, I don't like to drink, but once in a while, when I go down to the bar, but I always keep it to a minimum, so I don't make a ______ out of myself. I think mine is more fear of being ridiculed in front of people I know, funny thing is they are drunk anyway. I know if I drink too much back in the day, I would always feel cheap the next morning, not that I did anything wrong, it just didn't feel right. I always regretted the next morning like you. Glad now that I know that feeling so I don't go to extreme's, now I just enjoy....

Acutally, I never liked going to bars to meet people. I always felt that there was a paradox there. Why is it always so loud in bars that you can't hear the other person? How is that conducive to meeting people, pray tell? No, I used to go only to listen to bands that I liked. And I wised up quick as to how much I could drink and not get a hangover (or a dwi).

Bars are a waste of time and money, most of the people that hang out there are losers. Why would you want to hang out in a smelly place and when you get home you've spent a fortune, gained nothing, well maybe a hangover and your clothes stink of stale cigarrette smoke. No stay away.

Nope, I do go to bars (once in a while) with my friends, but we only go for a few drinks and a few laughs...nothing else. We don't go to make a fool of ourselves or to pick up men. Just for a little fun. If you regret doing what you did the night before, you should stop repeating the mistakes, don't you think?

Good luck!

People love to stand about and watch while others make a fool of themselves. Stay away from these kind of people, Tell yourself you are better than that, and remember you will be known by the company you keep. Head up shoulders back your new life will begin with the first step.
Good Luck

I'm not a big fan of bars but that's just me. I don't find most of the people there to be those that I would ever date. You can definitley have a good time with your friends though.
