I am happy to declare but what types of wood can i bring back? I would like tp buy things like wooden candels and wall hangings

usually customs in australia are very good with wooden item.they looker for the boorer worm which is easily detected by them.if there is a problem they dont confiscate the product.they allow you to have the item fumigated,at a cost to you.not very much 10-20 dollars then return them.i would think you would have to be unlucky to brink any boorers back with you.as long as you declare,custom are really polite and helpful.a word of caution dont bring back the masks etc.they are very hard to examine in every nook and cranny.hope i have been of help

I think they just want to make sure the wood has been processed in a way that would prevent insects or fungus from growing on it. If it's been painted or laquered it will probably be all right. I believe they are trying to keep out raw wood products.

One of the best things i bought home was a hand made photo album, you can get them at most of the markets.
