I copied and pasted from what another yahooer wrote....do you agree with him?

I see a lot about kids having kids on this site, and a lot of it seems to be about placating and reassuring that it will all be OK. It's not OK. Kids born to teenage mothers are more likely to grow up in single parent households, more likely to commit crimes, less likely to graduate high school and go to college. Teen parents are more likely to work lower paying jobs, have to work multiple jobs and are less likely go to college, let alone graduate. I'm not a prudish republican whacko, I just think that society should do everything it can to discourage and shun teenage parents. I'm not even against teen sex. Enjoy your youth! Bang away! Use birth control (both guys and girls) every time, no exceptions. When you've reached your life goals and have been married to the same person for three or four years, then have a kid. Having one when you're still in high school is just immature and shortsighted.

I am in no way promoting it BUT the stereotypes tick me off to no end

I had my daughter at 17

I have NEVER been on any form of welfare, public assitance etc (yes it was hard but i worked my butt off to make sure i wasnt creating another system draining situation)

I have a very well paying job ( yes i started at a little above minimum wage and worked my way up but after 8 years Ive topped out pay and and do quite well)

I finished high school ( I had enough credits that senior year i had to take 2 classes and was out of school in two hours.. i went into the work release program meaning i could take my classes and leave to go home for a while with my baby and go to work)

I am trying to get back to college (yes its hard with a child but now shes in grade school i am able to do that a little older than my classmates but still)

we may not have all made the wisest choice by getting pregnant but there are many that lift ourselves up out of it without having to depend on everyone else to do it for us... im sorry im tired of hearing the nasty remarks or seeing the looks in peoples faces.. YES 17 is young to have a baby .. but if you put it into perspective a long time ago women weere married and had children before 20 or you were going to be a spinster all your life.. i say as long as you take responsibility for your actions leave the girls alone.. the ones that irk me are the ones having 2 3 4 before they hit 20 and living off the system cause they have been allowed to

Well I'm not going to lie. I'm 18 years old and I have a 10 month daughter she is the joy of my life but if I could turn back the hands of time I would've waited. Yes I did finish high school and I'm attending U of R now but a baby makes things so much harder! I do not promote teen pregnancy and I also don't promote teens having sex. Because if you get pregnant you should be an adult and ready and prepared for the child. Even if you use birth control you can still get preganant. Young girls don't make the same mistake I made. Just wait.. trust me you have a lot of time. And yes I got pregnant when I was a senior but every one makes mistakes I was just trying to be grown and I thought I knew better than my mom. But obviously I didn't because if I did I wouldn't have gotten pregnant

First, let us clarify teen pregnancy is....I believe it applies to persons 17 and below. 18+ is an adult.

I agree with the poster who you copied and pasted from. No I don't think teen pregnancy should be accepted. I'm sick of babies having babies. It's not right, but it seems that that is just how it is. Yes, % rates are dropping and I am grateful for it. Frankly, I'm not real big on out of wedlock pregnancy as a whole. Teen or adult.

Have sex, get your freak on! Wear a condom (guys) and get on a hormonal birth control (ladies). In this day and age there is really no reason for an unplanned pregnancy.

Let me say that i am 20 and have a 2 yr old son. He is my life--he is PERFECT!! I am married to his father--we have been married for almost 4 yrs and R so happy. Our lives are great, we both graduated, both have jobs paying over $11/hr, have a great life. Our son WAS planned. However, I dont think that children under 17 should have babies...for any reason, i dont agree with abortions either. I think the mothers need to get a handle on the kids and make them realize what a great responsibility it is to have a child.

I am 36. I have a 16 yr old son. He is bright, sweet, funny, charming, smart. Everything a mom could hope for. We are normal,educated...everything the stereotype says we shouldn't be. However, it was VERY difficult and required alot of hard work and sacrifice.

I wish people knew the truth:

TEENAGE PREGNANCY RATES HAVE BEEN DROPPING FOR YEARS, AND ARE LOWER NOW THAN EVER BEFORE.

So, we're moving in the right direction.
