You will definitely have a tax liability. Whether you have to pay any more when you file your return will depend on whether you've already paid in enough for 2006, through withholding or estimated payments, to cover your tax liability. If you paid in more than your total tax, then you'll get the extra back as a refund. If you didn't pay in enough, then you'll pay the rest when you file your return.

Um, yes. Everyone living in this country who has an income is obligated to pay taxes. You may receive a refund if you overpaid in the withholding from your employment checks. Or, you may have to pay more in because not enough was withheld. But either way, you have to file. Whether you have a house or kids is irrelevant.

Were taxes withheld at your job? Self-employed? In all probability you will have to file your tax return and at that point you will find out if you need to pay taxes.
