especially if u dig him and he obviosly is into u - dont leave a guy who likes you enough to ask sum1 to tell u - hanging, + he prob likes u so much hes shy

is your friend the type to lie to you! if not then i wouldn't worry about it,i would ask him.if you cant trust your friend i would ask her if she was lieing if you still feel she is than decide to ask him anyway or leave it alone!
