my guy friend likes me, and he said this to my friend "i liked her since the day i met her. there's just something different about her" what does the last part mean? i'm not sure i understand it.

it's very difficult keeping guy friends because this is what usually happens. It may not be anything at all about you...or it could be something very specific. A guy friend may never notice you and then one day you wear something nice or have a certain perfume on and then poof.
From experience my own experience:
First, you notice that you can’t wait for your friend to call. You get nervous when you are around each other, and the thought of your friend with another love interest is invoking feelings of envy and jealousy.
That's pretty much how it goes.
