Cold.
Several kilometers thick, especially inland (depending on if you mean ice over the ocean or ice over the land).
Moves slowly (glaciers flow down the mountains and eventually break off into the ocean).

Polar ice started out as frozen gases in the atmosphere that were vortex-ed to the surface and collected water vapor on the way down. These gases are made up of Nitrates, chlorides, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and others.
