Thanks Jay-V-Dub, I think so far you are the only one that gave an honest question. I sure 99% of the posters here are married or have a relationship with someone so they say there is more to life....but only after they filled the hole of having someone to share their life with and the desire to have children. Yes, after you have these things you look for other things...but only after.

no, ther is more.
Eccl. 12:13 The conclusion of the matter, everything having been heard, is: Fear the [true] God and keep his commandments. For this is the whole [obligation] of man. 14 For the [true] God himself will bring every sort of work into the judgment in relation to every hidden thing, as to whether it is good or bad.

Not for everyone because otherwise God would let everyone live long enough to do so. We are all here on earth for different reasons and different things to do. A lot of people are meant to have children because that's how other people come into the world. Just look at someone like Oprah who hasn't been married and has no children but she has had a big impact on the whole world in her lifetime.

I don't think the point is to have children and be married. I think the point of life is to live it the way you choose and be happy. Many people are happy without children. It's something that only you can decide whats right for you.

No. As evidenced by the fact that so many people choose not too marry or not to have children. Personally, I may want to get married, still undecided, But I don't really enjoy the company of children and don't desire to have them.

By evolutionary biology, the point of life is to have offspring that live to have offspring of their own. Marriage, however, is optional.
By functionalist sociology, the point of life is social reproduction, passing the beliefs and practices of a society on to the next generation, so that the society persists.

Um no. Not at all!
In fact the purpose of life is actually quite a 'selfish' thing if you see it as that. As the purpose of life is to experience yourself and allow you to know who you really and who you are not.
Every choice, every decision you make lets you become more aware of this.
Most importantly, do it how you wish.

If that's your choice, sure.
I believe in the acquisition of knowledge, enjoying everyday since it may be my last, along with the above. You just have to make sure that you have a really good life insurance policy if you do have kids.

Nope, at least not in my opinion. My husband and I have made a conscious decision not to have children - if there were some sort of "need" for it, we couldn't be comfortable with this decision.

No, I don't think so. You can feel empty even with a family and children. If you don't make your life meaningful then nothing will make it good, not even kids.

I don't know if I buy what JayVDub said. Even if it was true, hopefully your neocortex is able to suppress the primitive urge to "spread your seed" around.
