First off you are so not alone!! Tons of people deal with acne and scarring so there are a lot of ways to treat it and to get help with both issues.
I'd worry about the acne issue first and try to get it resolved. Proactive works great and it's easy to use. Also talk to a dermatologist and they can give you some pointers about skin care and treatment options. If you don't have zits you can't squeeze them.
I know that when I get a zit it drives me absolutely nuts and I'll dig at it until it's gone so I don't know how effective it's going to be to get you to leave your face alone. It's irritating and a bad habit, I know. You might want to try some positive motivation. Get a picture of someone you admire who has clear skin, and someone who has acne scars and psychologically tell yourself which complexion you want. I think that would help more then trying to catch yourself every time.
Either way good luck!

I do it too. I think most people do. If you are getting scars then you definitely are overdoing it. You need to wash your face and use a toner and a moisturizer. I use proactive and it really does work and also takes away the redness of the scars. You need to do something that keeps your hands busy. Every time you feel like squeezing try flossing your teeth or filing your nails. Another good idea would be to keep a pic of someone with really nice skin on the mirror that way when you go to squeeze it could be a reminder of what kind of skin you want.

Wash your face very well every day with a soap that does not dry out your skin but removes all the oil. You'll just have to refrain from even touching your face all day. Do not squeeze a zit unless it ripe and ready to pop. If you really must pop a zit, do it gently, then clean the popped area very well and don't mess with it any further. If you continue what you're doing now, you'll wind up with a permanently pock marked face and no guy will ever want anything to do with you. There's very few girls out there with a pock marked face that pass for anything close to the word, pretty.

Don't Pop, Pick, Squeeze
Causing trauma to a pimple by popping, picking or squeezing it is never a good idea. Why? Because it can force bacteria even deeper into the hair follicle causing further irritation and inflammation. And, more inflammation could mean more scarring.
In fact, it's probably a good idea to keep your hands off your skin as much as possible since P. acnes, the bacteria that causes acne breakouts, is usually present on the skin. This bacteria is not a problem unless it is introduced into the hair follicle. So, be mindful about touching your acne-prone zones.
-think about that before you go on with your habit.

I had the same problem. I set a number that I was aloud to squeeze and then slowly stopped altogether. The only ones I allow myself to pop now are the white ones. By the way my skin cleared up a lot after I stopped touching and playing with it. And don't stop trying to find a product that works for you, it will happen. You could try proactive or clinique is really good. Good luck, I understand how it feels.

If you have an urge to squeeze your pimples (which can be quite dangerous bringing on infection and making scars even worse), please do talk with a psychologist about it as well as a dermatologist for the acne. I'm not a psychologist myself, but perhaps you have an actual compulsion to picking at your skin similar to those with trichotellomania(sp?) which is the irresistable urge to pull out one's hair and it usually helps the person reduce stress at that moment only though. So please do talk with a skin doctor about the acne but perhaps also a clinical psychologist to determine if you could benefit from cognitive-behavioral therapy for the habit of picking at your blemishes.

I had a ance problem for a while too but i ordered proactiv off of tva and I guarentee you that it will work for you. It clears acne like crazy. You will probably see some results in a week or 2 but it will work. So if you when it get rid of the pimples you'll have nothing to pop.

Acne: treatment from your doctor
Firstly let me say that I've tried most of the Over-The-Counter treatments you get from the pharmacy, and they range from the fairly ineffective to the completely useless. They're also expensive. Non-prescription treatments cannot get at the root of the problem which lies beneath the skin: overproduction of oil and bacteria.
You need to go to your doctor. If he or she is not sympathetic, find someone who is and get to a Dermatology Specialist (SOS Acne has various arguments to use to your doctor).
The treatments your doctor usually prescribes are:
(rated on a scale of 1 to 5 stars)
1. Benzoyl peroxide containing creams *
2. Topical Antibiotics (a cream or lotion to spread on the skin) *
3. Oral antibiotics (pills you take). Minocycline (Minocin) is the best **
4. Oral antibiotics + Retin-A (so the best antibiotic treatment is Minocycline + Retin-A)***
5. Dianette/Diane 35- the female contraceptive pill***
6. Isotretinoin (Accutane/Roaccutane)*****
In my long experience of various treatments the only one I can wholly recommend is Accutane/Roaccutane because it actually affects the root cause of the problem: the overproduction of oil by the glands in your skin. You have to spend 6 months on it, and it has some unpleasant but tolerable side effects. Between 50% and 80% of patients are cured by the first course of this drug.

You can try to buy Proactive or Acnefree if you cant afford proactive.Thats a good start. And when you are about to pick at ur pimples just imagine how its going to look after you pick at it.(WORSE) so dont do it,instead try to get some Benzoyle peroxide, and apply some on it and let nature do the rest. But defenatly start by getting some kind of acne treatment.
