Pollination just means that the pollen from one plant has landed on another (preferably on the stigma). Fertilization doesn't occur until the ovule.

pollination is the method by which plants reproduce, and how a male plant fertilizes the egg. I guess the difference is that fertilization is a general term and pollination is a specific term
