Normally, it is just 3.5 times the size of the container you have. So if you say mix 1 volume of gin with 3.5 volumes of water, whatever you measure the gin in, you would do it 3.5 times with water. It is not a specific measurement. Another way to think of it, if your container is 10 mL, 3.5 volumes would ber 35 mL.
