Lower backs are a fairly painful area for some, it all depends on your pain tolerance. Make sure you eat something before hand as the higher sugar levels will keep your endorphins up and make it hurt less (REALLY).
DO NOT use polysporin or neosporin or anythign petroluem or Zinc Oxide (Some A&D) related while healing because it will fade the colours in your tattoo. Make sure you keep the area clean by washing once a day with antibacterial soap. Stay away from scented soaps and scrubs while its healing. Less is more when healing a tattoo so go easy on the lotion. Anything white and unscented like cocoa butter works jsut fine.
Do not recover the area the following day or during healing at all. A tattoo needs air to breathe and heal so no cling wrap or bandages are needed. The main issue is just leaving it alone so it can heal.
Also going to a reputable and clean studio will make for certain that you will not have any complications. Make sure they use new needles, and have an autoclave steriliser. If you dont feel comfortable with their level of cleanliness walk away and go somewhere else.

Is this your first tattoo? As far as the pain, it can't be too bad if so many people have it done. None of my tattoo's are on a bony area, so they really did not hurt that bad. I have heard there are a few things that can affect the pain level. 1. having the tattoo on a fleshly part of the body is probably less painful than on a bony area. 2. It can be more painful (irritating) in a place with more nerve endings. 3. The person doing the tattoo's skill level.
I had one lady who just dug into me and hurt it like hell.
Keeping it from getting infected is pretty simple as long as you are not a filthy person and you got it done at a clean and sterile place.

Getting a tattoo anywhere will hurt...although the lower back is one of the least painful places to get one. Just imagine a needle going up and down hundreds of times a second and it piercing your skin. Kinda graphic, I know, but that is what is happening. But on the other hand, it is bearable because so many people get them and in much more painful spots like on the rib cage. The tattoo artist will give you specific instructions on taking care of the tattoo, so dont worry about that right now.

it will feel very annoying and kind of like a sunburn.Lower back is not that bad for pain.
wash with mild soap (dove, ivory)(unsented) 2x a day
do not bath(soak , swim ect.),scratch, pick or let anyone touch it
use lubriderm(unsented) only a small amount when needed for itching
DON"T keep it covered for more than a day (12-20 hrs) it will not heal if it does not dry out

it rather is nearly a relentless deep scratch. your pores and skin will start to experience very heat interior the approach, warm even. piercings are over particularly without postpone, even nevertheless even the air can cause them to injury afterwards, they could properly be sooo gentle. so it fairly is perhaps reminiscent of taking a heated needle and scratching your pores and skin a splash deeper than you oftentimes could. you would be fantastic. conversing once you have become it rather is a huge distraction and makes the approach seem to bypass plenty speedier. have relaxing!

Get your tattoo done in a hospital is the best way to keep down infection. I don't know how much it hurts, but you can imagine thousands of needle jabs with ink on the needle.
I understand some people coat the tattoo with petroleum jelly, but unless the jar has never been opened, what ever germs were on the fingers of the people that took some out are now INSIDE the jar waiting to be smeared on your back.

1. It can't hurt as much as a fake tattoo.
2. Eveyone prefers the lower back, but the only way anyone cna see it is if they see your butt.
3. How do you get a tattoo infected? It's not gonna do lasers on you or anything.
4. You're welcome.
