well you have what you call VOC's or Volatile organic compounds such as leaded paint, and chemicals in materials in carpets which are harmful to the body.
In terms of human safety, your friendly computer is not so friendly after all. WHen it gets dust, the bacteria can go out of the ventilation and hit you.
Plus you wouldn't notice it but everything you have has an embodied energy which is the amount of energy put into making something. Your TV was not made without putting out a lot of Co2 in th air. Aluminium is recyclable however it's one of the most polluting metals to ever make. Basically timber and natural products have a very little Embodied energy. THe more man made the material like concrete or titanium, the more Co2 you put out so these are really dangerous if you use these in excess.

Volcanoes expel more pollutions into the atmosphere than all humans combined. Methane from cow rectums is a large part of the problem. Rotting vegitation creates pollution.
