I have heard that the use of certain drugs automatically disqualifies you in some states. What about Ohio?

You can pretty much look at it this way. There is only one drug that is a misdemeanor in my state and in most others. That's minor possession of marijuana. So, if you have had dealings with anything harder than that, the department should not even bother looking at you because you have already dealt with felony drugs. Some departments will tolerate your admittance with smoking a little pot back during your high school days, and some won't. I worked for one department that did turn everyone down if they had dabbled with anything. You can try to lie, but you better be able to beat the lie detector test.

Meth, cocaine, heroin, PCP - you're pretty much out. Most agencies look at drug use over the last 10 years. Depending upon your drug of choice and frequency of use, you may be okay.

depends on how old your were when you last did it. If you are up front with it, a lot of times they will overlook it. It is when you lie that can get you into trouble.
