I want to purchase two blades, preferably daggers, which come to the middle of my forearm from my hand. They're matching blades, basically twin/dual blades, but no one seems to know what they're called beyond "daggers." What are they really called? They're about 10-12 inches long, generally with a slight curve; somewhere between an asassin's katana and a European broadsword. Help me out?
NOTE: They're something like the "Elven daggers" Legolas sliced and diced with in the Lord of the Rings movie. ^.^

Mmm....now see, none of those suggested really match. The kukuri are close to but not quite what I want; the katars are definitely not what I want, though it was a good thought. There's a picture I have...here:

Now, that said, those are "swords". The weapons I'm looking for are EXACTLY like those, but they're NOT swords; they're more like hunting knives, and each is about 10-12 inches long as stated. They call Legolas' blades "daggers"; it seems "dagger" has a broad definition.
And to the person who asked what I was doing with them: Learning how to fight so I can defend myself and those I care for. What else?

There are two possibilities here. Most likely you are talking about Kukri which are the curved blades that Legolas uses in LotR. Kurki are usually dual wielded and are held with the blades along the forearms. Also, you may be thinking about a set of Sai's. These are the same type of weapons used by Raphael (TMNT) and consist of a long spike in the middle of the weapon with two longer spikes alongside them (kind of like a fork weapon). I hope this helps.
Just as an aside, from your description I doubt you are talking about a Katar as the person above suggests. These are punching type weapons and are held by small handles at the top of the blade. Sometimes they have a couple of small stabilizers that run along the sides of your fist.

Falchion or Machette styled short sabres... But yes, they mostly get called daggers, though daggers were usually smaller and double edged. If they're not sabres or short swords, then I'd call them 'knives'
Those blades rather defy traditional nomenclature or are in a catagory I'm not aware of.

The picture shows a pair of fantasy weapons. If you are into the exotic, a twin set of short Kris could be what you are looking for. They are popular in the pacific islands. By the way, a Kris isn't design for slice and dice. Stabbidy stab is where its heart lies.

Try http://www.trueswords.com/products_new.php?page=15 See the Double Trouble Dragon Bowie Twin Set. Bowie is probably what you need and there should be different styles in the twin sets. Or the twin tanto http://www.trueswords.com/allied-defense-twin-tanto-full-tang-street-fighting-p-2400.html

all weapons have an origin in the practial. I suggest you ask yourself, what would weapons of this size and shape be use for in Okinawa, china, japan, in the days before electricity. The nunchuck was used to thrash wheat originally, as an example. Later is found it could be used to thrash ***. Tonfas, to crush and grind the wheat and rice, later to crush and grind ***. so consider its origin and its purpose and perhaps you will find your answer. I hope this helps. good luck. one more thing; who will teach you to use these blades. if you have an instructor who doesnt even know what they are chances are he wont be able to train you any different from any other big fat knife. think of the practical side. are they truly useful outside the dojo?

Do they look like the daggers that Elektra used? The descripiton sounds very much the same.
If yes, the knives you want may be Sai daggers.

Depends on which martial art you take. The same weapon can have different names. I believe that they are just called "daggers" in Taijichuan.
