Sometimes i think they will throw a fight but who knows. Its strange to me that he lost to Liddel whos half the size of Sylvia, but beat the snot out of Sylvia lastnight. Strange to me also but I love the UFC. But it was a kick butt fight and Im glad Couture won.

Well, if you saw the Bodog fight between Roger Gracie (220 lbs) and Ron Waterman (275) you will see that size isn't always the thing that determines who wins.
Roger G got Waterman with an armbar after having been beat around quite a bit. I thought for sure that Roger's family shouldn't have allowed him to debut against someone so much bigger than he was. However, I underestimated the role of intelligence and strategy that comes into play in these matches.
First you need to know how to take down someone much bigger than yourself no matter which person you fight, and second if you have a chance to study your opponent than by all means do so.
Couture was very hungry to come back after going through personal stuff and just generally missing fighting all together. Plus a bit of a chip on his shoulder about being old.
He watched Sylvia's past couple fights and realized that Sylvia was fighting safe (to keep his belt) instead of fighting all out like he used to. This coupled with watching his fight against Arlovski (the first one not the second...got him early on in the fight too) helped him come up with a take down strategy.

Fights are all about style, and Randy's style matched up much better against Tim Sylvia then it did against Chuck Liddell.
Chuck Liddell makes a living off of defending your takedowns and hitting you with accurate power shots. Hes much better then Tim Sylvia in defending the take downs and throwing more precise punches.
Another thing to think about is fighter gameplans and how well they execute them. Couture had a gameplan on how to chop Tim Sylvia down and he worked it flawlessly. Tim Sylvia admitted that he was off balanced all night and he just couldn't make the right adjustments.
No setup just another classic Randy Couture moment and I for one couldn't be happier.

Liddell is an amazing fighter, probably the best in mixed martial arts. Sylvia just isnt that good of a fighter, he has a weak chin. Andre Arlovski knocked him down within the first minute of his fight and Couture did the same thing. The more interesting thing is that Couture is 43 yrs old and beat a guy in his early 30's.

You people need to realize that the sport of Mixed Martial Arts is a sport of skill. Couture lost to Liddell because Chuck is an expert striker...he is patient and waits to counter with that powerful right hand of his...Chuck is also known for his excellent sprawl to avoid takedowns which is exactly what Couture's game is about. He uses his wrestling to take you down and ground and pound. Tim Sylvia as we know is not a great fighter...he rides his long jab to victory and uses his size to win. Couture is a better fighter than Sylvia and that is why he won...Couture lost to Chuck because Chuck's game is focused on avoiding what Randy Couture excells at...DAMMIT people...if you don't understand MMA...don't comment or say stupid things like, "UFC is setup of fake!" Understand that UFC is not fake wrestling entertainment and is not setup like boxing where they put the best fighters against no name challengers who don't stand a chance!

I don't know. I do know Tim Sylvia knocked Ricco Ridriguez out cold and that same Ricco beat the crap out of Couture, so I don't know whats going on. I do know Sylvia was busted for steroids and has not been the same fighter since he was caught. Liddell's strikes with pin point precision and is what you would call a master, one slip up from Couture and lights out, Sylvia is not as crisp with the striking.

Oh contraire. Remember. Couture DID beat Liddell during one of their fights. Stood toe-to-toe with him, too.
And as for Sylvia's match being a setup, do you REALLY think he would allow his eye to be punched to the point of being as swollen shut during a fight as his was after Coutour finished with him, just so he could lose on purpose? I don't think so. If it were a setup, Sylvia would have rolled over and played dead in the first couple of rounds.
Randy just plain outsmarted and outclassed the giant.

Randy was able to beat Sylvia because he was way better prepared, he had Sylvia fooled the whole fight. He would strike when Sylvia thought he would shoot, he would shoot when Sylvia thought he would strike. It looked like Sylvia just took the fight for granted and didnt give respect to Randy. Also, Randy was in a different place in his personal life then he was when he fought Chuck. There is a lot of mental aspect to MMA and you need to be able to think clearly, the issues in his personal life definetly had some influence over him. The fight was not fixed, Sylvia loves his title, he is not going to throw a match, not worth it for him. Randy just looked outright amazing in that fight, good for him.

The Tim Sylvia that showed up last night to UFC 68 was not the Heavyweight Champion everybody knows. Tim took Randy for granted because of his age and he came into the fight not fully prepared. Everything Tim did, Randy reversed. Also Randy had extra training by coaching the Ultimate Fighter 4 and doing the premiere episode of Spike TVs Pros vs. joes. Tim underestimated Randy plain and simple.
UFC is not setup

sylvia isnt that good of a fighter...hes just use to using his size to beat people oppose to skill look at how he fights normally he uses his insane reach and just throws jabs thats all no combos no footwork no grappling skills nada just stupid lengthy jabs he has an ok take down defense that he used against monson but couldnt keep couture off him. he goes for his lil jabs to score points for a judges' decision keeping using his reach to keep distance away from the fighter and also tries to keep from goin to the ground.
couture looked way more conditioned for the fight. he was more aggressive knocking him down within seconds from the start(which someone stated it doesnt take much to knock sylvia down), couture was applying footwork like a boxer, and sylvia take down defense was not good enough for couture's wrestling skills.
then sylvia during the interviewed try to say he had an injury...that cause the crowd to erupt in boos
