My husband wants to adopt my daughter, who is from another man. How do we go about doing this? Also would he have the same rights as if it was his daughter all along?

The natural father must give up all rights to the child and you must petition the court for this to happen. If I was you, I would contact a lawyer and have them handle all the legalities of this matter. Good luck.

contact your local court house and they will 1. give you the proper forms to start the adoption process or two send you in the right direction.once adoption occurs that is pretty much his child. as far as rights i dont know how the law part of that works.

you have to get the legal father's rights terminated.
he can give them up or you can try to get it done over his objections.
often they will do it because after they give up rights,
they don't have to pay child support anymore.
even if they are not now paying child support it means he has no legal obligation to ever pay it at all.
