The 19th century but really never, Christianity did not really embark into Asia until the 19th century, due to the intolerance of Western Civilization among Asia's monarchies and empires after the Age of Exploration when Christian missionaries first came to Asia.

When these countries were forced to engage in the modern practices of the Western World, Christianity reentered the scene with little acceptance but almost no rejection because the Eastern philosophies were beliefs of religious tolerance.

Maybe the 20th century specifically for China and Japan during China's revolution and World War II but those were not the feelings of the common people of those nations.
