Lunar eclipse:
The reason why we can see the moon up in the sky is because light from the sun hits the moon, and gets reflected off the moon's surface back down to us on earth. But if the earth moves between the sun and the moon (as it does periodically), and the earth's shadow falls across the face of the moon, we then can't see the portion of the moon that's now in the earth's shadow--it will look like the moon is disappearing, until the earth's shadow moves on past and the moon is revealed again. This is called a "lunar eclipse."
Solar eclipse:
If the moon passes directly between the sun and earth, the moon will block our view of the sun. Because of this temporary blocking, it will look like the sun is disappearing, only to be revealed again as the moon gradually moves out of the way. This is a "solar eclipse." This is the kind of eclipse that can be dangerous to view with the naked eye, because whatever part of the sun's light that isn't be blocked by the moon can still be strong enough to damage our eyes.

a lunar eclipse happens when the earth blocks the sun's light reflecting off the moon. a solar eclipse is when the moon block the sun's light coming to earth. lunar eclipses are more common. the solar eclipses are dangerous to watch because you could go blind staring at the sun but watching a lunar eclipse wont hurt you at all.

The solar eclipse is dangerous to watch directly.
Lunar eclipse = the earth passes directly between the moon and the sun. Since the moon relies on the sun for light, it will disappear
Solar eclipse = the moon moves directly between the earth and the sun, and it's shadow blocks part/all of the sun.

The solar because you'd have to look at the sun, which I don't recommend anyone do. lol
In order of the celestial bodies lined up...
Lunar... Sun>Earth between> Earth's shadow on the Moon, blocking out the sun's light and making it look dark.
Solar... Sun>Moon between blocking the sun>Earth
