my sons are 9 years apart and I see nothing wrong with it, big brother is mature enough to help out and it's sort of like having 2 only children because you re-live everything again

Yes and it's hard! I have a 17 yr old a 15 yr old and then my baby is 9. The older boys won't have anything to do with him usually. It's sad. I encourage them to be a good role model but their teenagers and could care less. The more I talk the less they listen lol. They do babysit once in a while when my husband and I want to go out so I guess that's something! Their just not close and I doubt they will ever be because of the age difference - they do defend him tho and that's good. I also think with boys it's different than with girls. I know of families with boys of varying ages and they aren't close and then families with girls of all ages and they are close so who knows!??

Hopefully it will change some day =)

Take Care,
Tori

My kids are all about 3 years apart, but big age diff between youngest and oldest....Holly almost 15, Nicholas 11, Alisha almost 9, Brian 5, Kaylee 2 1/2, and Kelsey, coming soon...I think it has taught my older children alot about the responsibilites of having children, and I can almost guarantee that my 15 year old WON'T be coming home pregnant anytime in the near future LOL.

I had twins girls at 29 and a boy at 39. You're right - it's like the boy is an only child. The generation gap between him and his parents is huge, but he has a close relationship with his sisters, and they have always adored him. They were a big help, especially when he would talk to them but not to me. They are 31 and 21 now and are still close.
