Can you eat key limes on their own?

Can you eat raw key limes on their own like an apple? Peel and all?

You'd choke on the peel and you'd gag on the fruit. Key limes are sour limes. They're called "Caribbean limes", "Mexican limes" or "lemon limes" outside of the U.S.

They are, however, the best limes for cooking and cocktails, IMHO, but expensive as they are so small, do not contain much juice, the trees don't produce much fruit and they are very thorny, making the fruit difficult to harvest.

I don't know about the peel, it might not taste very good, but yes, you could eat the fruit alone.

And as far as Corona and the lime, the Mexicans put that in there to kill off all the germs and bacteria in their beer LOL.

I done it with regular limes as well as lemons I don't think i've eaten the ones off of the key limes though they probably don't taste any different then regular limes but I can tell you this I don't mind the bitter taste but I always have to have something to drink to get the taste out of my mouth
