Don't drink and drive. Know your limit and once you reach it, then stop drinking. But, I guess the ultimate one would be: don't drink at all. There are so many drinks out there that taste much better then alcohol and don't impair your decision-making process, meaning, you are free to drive--and you don't get a headache!

Always have at least one alcohol free day per week, to let your liver recover. Limit it to 4 standard drinks daily for men, and 2 for women, except pregnant females or those trying to be, who should abstain, as there is no level that is safe for a foetus. A 375ml can of 5% alc/vol beer = 1.4 standard drinks. Drink plenty of water before bed, to avoid dehydration, which is the main cause of hangovers.

Know when to stop, and always make sure you bring along enough will-power to force yourself to stop when it is time.
Otherwise you might end up ill, or in a bad situation. It never feels good to wake up after drinking too much, nor is it good for your liver or kidneys.
If you are drinking with others, make sure you trust them completely. If you do not trust someone you are with, then do not drink - it could be disaster.

Other than don't drink at all? Well, drink responsibly. Always have a designated driver if you are going out to drink. Always stay inside your house (or friends) house when drinking as to not get caught for public intoxication. And have fun and know your limit.
