Summoning the Emily Post muse. Actually this is a very good question. There is no guessing to it. By trade I am a printer. So I know this cockimamy thing.

You see it is etiquette to place it into a envelope so that the recipient will see it on first opening. What a lot of people do not know is that the postal address actually goes on the back side of any envelope.

The side of the envelope with all those ever so lickable flaps is actually the front of the envelope. So think about it.

Most people will go to the front of the envelope to break the seals. If you watch any secretary she/he will go to the front of the envelope where all the seals are to break open the envelope. So it is absolutely the best courtesy to consider how that envelope will be opened. The recipient will read the back where the address and postage stamp is to confirm that indeed this little gem is for them. Then they will flip that side down break the seal, and reach into the envelope. Think about it. This happens almost every time. Even you probably do this every time.

So when you are sealing the envelope the address and postage is on the back of the envelope, so the top of the card, the face of the card goes in facing you. And the fold or crease of the card down to the bottom of the envelope. With the flaps of the card in your hand and at the top of the envelope, you seal the envelope licking and closing the flap on the top of the envelope.

Crease in first with the back towards the front of the envelope. Well bred people open their letters with a letter opener and that is done from the back with the back of the envelope facing the person who is doing the opening.

the part that opens should be put in first...that way it's easier to take out of the envelope when you get it. also, the front of the card faces the back of the envelope, so the reader doesn't have to turn it sideways upon opening the envelope...hope that's what you mean by that question.

I'm not sure but this is what I do...I insert the card, open end first, facing the flap. I figure this way when the recipient opens the card they will see the front of the card first.

The front of the card should face the person, open side down while they are opening it from the creased back.

Crease in first with the lower back in direction of the front of the envelope. properly bred human beings open their letters with a letter opener and that's carried out from the lower back with the lower back of the envelope dealing with the guy who's doing the hollow.

Don't know if this is correct, but I put the folded side in first. Most people are right-handed, so when they open it, the front of the card is the first thing I see.
