How much would you pay someone perday to house sit your dog while you were on vacation? Michigan area.

The sitter would be our brother in law...he is a college student. Trustworthy. At our house.

It depends if the dog is staying with the sitter (best!) if so I 'd pay an arm and a leg! Dogs suffer so much without the normal daily routine. I would kennel the dog before i'd hire someone that is coming once or twice a day! You'll end up with a messed up (for life) dog. When you go to work, the doggie will think you'll be gone for day's, and will freak!

Dog Kennels get around $10.00 a day , depending where you live it can even be more .
Family or no Family I would pay , there are animals and we love them . Its worth the money .
If we can afford vacation , we should be able to pay someone for our dog .And especially knowing it is taken care of .

i work for a vet and i also house sit on the side. i charge $20 a visit. there is one couple that i house sit for that, i go to their house twice a day. one of their dogs has a throat problem and i have to blend to food to mush and put it on a table, i walk their dogs and i love these dogs and the owner never fusses about the cost because he knows his dogs are being well care for. he also doesn't have to upset their daily routine and have to wait until the next morning for the kennels to open for him to get his dogs. i have another couple that i house sit for and i go to their house and stay with their dogs for a week, sleep there and every thing. she pays me $250 for the week and that was her price that she decided on. i think that if you love your animals and are financially able you will pay well. but this is in georgia, so i don't know the rates for your state but call local vet office and see if any one who works there does house sitting, you can also know that if something goes wrong with your dog, it can be taken to the vet. just leave message with your vet that you will be out of town and who every has your dogs has your permission to bring them to the vet and you will be responsible for the bill. you may have to leave a credit card number with the vets office just in case of an emergency good luck

i paid $7 per visit. they collected mail, put out the bins and feed and changed the water in the bowls. i have two dogs. i also got the girl to come for two visit per day as i have got an older dog. She was 14 at the time.

Dog sitting in my area is very expensive! For a one week stay its $150.00!
